Blyth, County discuss library move ♦ Bear Facts Some time in 1990 Blyth may have a new library facility if village council undertakes necessary reno­ vations to the north wing of Memorial Hall, County Council learned Thursday. In the report of the Huron County Library Board a letter was reported being received from Blyth Village Council outlining council’s intention to relocate the library in what is now the box office and art gallery of the Blyth Festival once the new art gallery and box office at the south side of Memorial Hall is built. The new library would occu­ py three rooms, the current box office, the art gallery and the former community activity room used as an office and auxiliary dressing room in recent years. The new facility would nearly triple the current library space in the munici­ pal office. Chief Librarian Beth Ross was asked to meet with village officials to see if they were prepared to make alterations to the interior of the facility to meet the needs of the library. Speaking later Ms Ross said council had indicated it was pre­ pared to make provisions for the changes in next year’s budget. Iff ■Ml V.I.P. IS HERE AGAIN by Patrick German and Brad Montgomery On October 3, the grade six class had their first V.I.P. (Values, Influences, Peers) program. The V.I.P. program is a health program for the grade six classes in Huron County. Constable John Marshall (School Liason Officer) and Mr. Livermore, our teacher, are leading the pro­ grams. This week we watched a movie about “Dangers of Taking Drugs”. On the next visit Constable Mar­ shall will be bringing another movie. There will be many more lessons to learn during the coming year. They are: development of the characters, an ongoing conflict throughout the play, humour and building up to a climax at the end of a play. This will help us with the steps of writing our own plays during English classes this term. At the end of the session, we broke into small groups and creat­ ed a short scenario which we acted out in class. Mr. Roulston gave us suggestions to improve our at­ tempts. PASS, KICK AND IT’S IN! by Kimberley Ferguson and Kimberley Richmond On Thursday, Oct. 5 the Blyth 7 and 8 girls’ and boys’ soccer teams went to Huron Centennial for the annual soccer tournament. The teams were from Huron Centenn­ ial, Vanastra, Clinton, Seaforth, Hullett and Blyth. Each team played five games: three in the morning and two in the afternoon. The overall winner for the girls was the Huron Centennial Team and for the boys it was the Clinton Public School team. The Blyth teams would like to thank Mr. Livermore and Mr. Sy grove for making it possible for the teams to go.
