Obituaries BRAD TAYLOR Bradley Roland Taylor passed away suddenly as a result of a car accident on Sunday, August 13 near Seaforth. Brad was born in Goderich Hospital January 3, 1973. He was 16 years old. He was the third son of Margaret (Achilles) Taylor of Walton, Ont. and William Taylor of Protent Station. He was a Grade 11 student at Seaforth High School and was an avid sports competitor playing hockey, ball, basketball and ball hockey. Brad is survived by his parents, two brothers, a sister and a brother-in-law: Richard (Rick) of RR 6, Goderich; Brian of London; Lynn, Mrs. Wayne McDonagh and Wayne McDonagh of Lucknow. He is also survived by his grandparents Mr. and Mrs. Roily Achilles of Walton and Gertrude Taylor of Seaforth. Friends were received Tuesday at Whitney Ribey Funeral Home in Seaforth. Funeral services were conducted from Duff’s United Church in Walton Wednesday, August 16 at 2 p.m. with interment in Brussels Cemetery. Serving as pallbearers were cou­ sins Danny Achilles, Dwayne Achilles, Terry Williamson, Kevin Williamson, Brad Schroder, Ted Sills, Jason McNichol, Jim Short­ reed, Mark Smale, Steve Fritz, Brent van den Akker and Brian Williamson. WILLIAM DOUGLAS SPENCE Mr. William Douglas Spence passed away at his residence on Queen St. in Brussels on August 28. 1989. He was 81 years old. Born in Campbellford, Ontario, Mr. Spence married the former Marion Margaret Gerritt who pre­ deceased him in August of 1982. Before retirement, he was an employer of Westinghouse. Left to mourn his passing are his son Karl of Brussels and his brother and sister-in-law Irene and Jerry Spence of Toronto. Mr. Spence rested at the Betts Funeral Home in Brussels until the funeral service which took place at 11 a.m. on August 30. Rev. J. Hawkins officiated. Pallbearers were Doug and Debbie Trollope, Cec. Moore and Karl Spence. Interment was at Brussels Ceme­ tery. SARAH FIDELIA HUBBARD Mrs. Sarah Hubbard of Fordwich Village Nursing Home died at University Hospital in London on August 25, 1989. She was in her 94th year. The former Sarah Fidelia Under­ wood was born in Howick Town­ ship. She spent her life as a homemaker and was a member of Gorrie United Church. She was predeceased by two husbands, Wilbert Gallaway and Burton Hubbard. One brother Gor­ don Underwood died in 1964. Mrs. Hubbard will be mourned by her children Wesley Galloway of Gorrie and her step-children Shar­ on and Clifton Coulter, also of Gorrie. She also leaves one brother Wesley of Brookhaven Nursing Home in Wingham, several grand­ children, great-grandchildren, nieces and nephews. Funeral services were conducted at 2 p.m. on August 28 from Betts Funeral Home, Gorrie Chapel with Rev. J. Hawkins officiating. Pallbearers were Alan Under­ wood, Glen Underwood, Murray Underwood, Tom Templeman, Don Templeman, and Ken Templeman. Murray, Marion, Marlene and Michelle Coulter were flower bear­ ers. Interment followed at Gorrie Cemetery. GLADYS DIXON Passed away at St. Raphael’s Nursing Home, Durham, Friday, September 1, 1989, Gladys Sher­ wood Tucker, in her 93rd year, beloved wife of the late Joseph A. Dixon (1977). Mrs. Dixon was bom in Glenelg Township on October 19, 1896, a daughter of the late Thos. P. and Annie (Watson) Tucker. She was a graduate of the Canada Business College, Chatham and worked in Toronto until her marriage to Joseph A. Dixon on November 28, 1923 at the home of her parents. They farmed in Egremont Town­ ship until their retirement in 1958, when they moved to Glenelg Town­ ship near Durham. Mrs. Dixon who was a member of Knox United Church, Durham and a member of the U.C.W. was very fond of nature and enjoyed music and reading. She is survived by two daughters and two son-in-laws, Annie and Dan Mclnnes of Blyth, Mabel and Howard Johnson of Vienna, Vir­ ginia; three grandchildren, Robert Mclnnes of Blyth, Dale Mclnnes and his wife Carrie of Glencoe and Nancy Mclnnes of Burlington and one brother, Charles Tucker and his wife Ida of Durham. Predeceas­ ed by a sister Mabel, Mrs. Robert Beyrer and a brother, Hehry Tuck­ er. Rev. H. W. Wonfor officiated at the funeral service which was at the McCulloch Funeral Home, Durham on Monday, September 4 at 2 p.m. Mrs. Wilma Hutson sang, “Be­ yond the Sunset”, a favourite of Mrs. Dixon’s and was accompanied by Tanya McCulloch. Pallbearers were Glen Moore, Gerald Tucker, Alan Sinclair, John Harrison and grandsons Robert Mclnnes and Dale Mclnnes. Flower bearers were Betty Mc­ Cabe and granddaughters Nancy Mclnnes and Carrie Mclnnes. Interment was in Durham Ceme­ tery. Donations were made to the Charity of one’s choice.
