Victoria County
gets I PM
The central Ontario county of
Victoria has been chosen to host
the 1992 International Plowing
Match and Farm Machinery Show.
Victoria beat Bruce County and
Durham REgion for the honour of
hosting the yearly plowing match,
the Ontario Plowmen’s Association
announced Tuesday at its annual
convention.
Victoria County, which includes
the town of Lindsay, is about 80
kilometers northeast of Toronto.
The host of the match is named
years in advance to allow the
association and the local volunteer
committee time to organize the
event.
This year’s match is to be held in
Essex County near Windsor, 1990’s
is set for Brant County near
Brantford, and the 1991 event will
be held near Sarnia, in Lambton
County.

Using a Guide Dog for travel helps
blind people to lead full and
independent lives since it enables
them to travel independently and
safely.
In 1988 members of the Junior
Farmers’ Association of Ontario
raised close to $25,000 for the
Juvenile Diabetes Foundation and
in 1987 donated over $16,000 to the
Children’s Wish Foundation.
The local Junior Farmers group
hopes that with help they will be
able to provide a blind person with
a Guide Dog. They want help to
meet ‘The Challenge’ and fulfill
their motto ‘Self Help and Comm
unity Betterment’. Anyone who
would like to assist can get more
information by contacting Anne
Alton, Huron County Provincial
Director, Wingham, 357-1451 or
Robert Hunking, President, RR 1,
Auburn, 523-4316.
