Phone 887-6677 Youth choir shares music at Duff's special service The Walton Public School choir shared their music with the congre­ gation of families and friends at the Sunday morning sfervice at Duffs United. They were accom-; panied by their music teacher Louise Wilson when they sang, ‘Who Built the Ark’’ and “Up with people’’. Greeters were Emerson and Phyllis Mitchell. Organist was Glenda Carter. Ushers were Brian Wilbee, Barry Hoegy and Heather McGavin. 'Our Lenten Journey' theme for UCW meeting A place mentioned in an Easter Event was the roll call answered by the members of Walton I unit of the U.C.W. Wednesday evening when the February meeting was held in the church basement. The theme “Our Lenten Jour­ ney” was carried out in the Worship service led by Mary Humphries, Maxine Marks and Marjory Fraser. The topic on Easter was well presented by Melva Fraser. Phyllis Mitchell presided for the business. In the announcements given out the general Joint Meet­ ing on March 1 at 8 p.m. with a guest speaker, Julie Lee from ‘‘Survival through Friendship House”, Goderich. It is requested each member bring a guest. The executive will meet first at 7:30 p.m. There will be no unit meeting in March. The World Day of Prayer is held this year March 3 at the Brussel Presbyterian Church at 1:30 p.m. The U.C.W. is making plans for a Daffodil Tea and Bake Sale on April 21. A bale will be packed in May with a date set at a later meeting. Sunday, March 12 the ladies will take the service. Membership fees were collected. Lunch was served bv Grouo D. People of Walton Mr. and Mrs. Ray Huether and Mr. and Mrs. Allan Searle visited on the weekend with Mr. and Mrs. Gordon Saunders and family, Royal Oak, Mich. Mrs. Saunders the former Mary Huether was celebrat­ ing her 70th birthday. Walton Area Sports Club Poker Rally for Feb. 26 is cancelled. Rebekahs drape charter Noble Grand Janet McCutcheon conducted the regular meeting of Rebekahs. The Charter was draped in memory of the late Jean Fraser. The Vice Grand gave a report on visits, cards, and gifts to shut-ins. Several letters were received re­ questing donations. Reports on the Dessert Euchre parties were very favourable. The date was set for next Oddfellow-Rebekah euchre, Monday, Feb. 27. Also the date was set for the Rebekah Casserole Euchre on Mar. 13 at 7 p.m. Plans were made to attend the memorial service in Bluevale United Church Sunday, Feb. 19. Rebekahs were asked to cater to a dinner by P.D.D.P. of Oddfellows in April and accepted. Birthday honours were given to one mem­ ber. After closing Lodge a social time and lunch was enjoyed by all present. Rev. Bonnie Lamble chose as the sermon, “The Promise’’. Nancy Godkin gave her report from the Toe Alpha Conference she had attended. Heather McGavin assist­ ed in reading the scripture lessons. Thanks is extended to Elva Bolger, Karen Hoegy, Bonnie Lam­ ble and Pearl McCallum for their work on the purple hangings in the sanctuary. The flowers in the church were in memory of the late Ann Smith of Brussels, a former member of the church and of the Walton community who passed away suddenly this past week.
