Phone 523-4360 Happy Gang Seniors plan for seniors games The January meeting of the Happy Gang Seniors was held on January 25. President, Clara Riley read “Battling The Bulge”, and “O Canada” was sung. The min­ utes of October and November meetings were read and approved. Roll Call was answered by 28 members. The Senior Games at Exeter and Dashwood are later this year. Surprise birthday party held A surprise birthday party on the occasion of her 84th birthday on January 28 was held at the home of Jean Scott. Present were Jim and Donna Scott, Julie and Andrew, Ken and Laura Scott, Christie, Shannon and Billy Jim, Don and Jay, John, Judy and family, Joe and Joanne and family Russell and Olda Jervis and family, and Liz Scott and family. Between 6:15 p.m. on March 30, 1985 and 8.50 a.m. on April 1, 1985 thieves undertook a Hollywood type break and en­ ter. They pried the back door to a vacant store with what ap­ pears to have been a large crowbar. Once inside the store the thieves took considerable time sawing and breaking through a concrete block wall into the adjacent store (Nabours Store in Goderich) which left a 3’ x 2’ hole. After quickly locating the safe they hammer­ ed and pried at it until it- opened. From inside the safe the culprits got away with over $3,300 in cheques and cash. Lunch was served by Hazel Reid and Estella Adams. Greeters at Londesboro United Church on Sunday, January 29 were Harry Snell and Isabel Scan­ lon. Ushers were Bill Bromley, Cliff Saundercock, Gerrit Wilts Leonard Archambault. A Bible was presented to chelle VanLoo. Infant baptism part of the service when Jamie and Jacob Crosby, twin sons of Mary Lou and Homer Crosby, were baptized. The sermon topic was “Taking Jesus at his word.” In the an­ nouncements, Messengers will be held next Sunday; and Bible Study will be on February 3 at 1:15 p.m. at Gail Dobie’s in Auburn. The Junior Youth Group will meet on February 4 at Bergsma’s for skating and tobogganing from 2 - 4 p.m. If there is no snow or ice, the meeting will be held at the Church. Don’t forget the annual Congre­ gational meeting January 31 with a pot luck dessert at 7:30 p.m., the meeting is at 8 p.m. Burns U.C.W. will meet at Clara Riley’s on February 1 at 2 p.m. Dave now has staff application forms for Camp Menesetung.
