Belgrave was put on the scoreboard by Eugene Fenton fol­ lowed up with two goals from Corey Moran. As the time clock was moving on so were the players with Brent Robinson scoring two more goals. Thanks to excellent goaltending by Brian Marks the final score was Belgrave 5, Blyth 0. Sprouts win The Trevor Wilson scoring ma­ chine continued in high gear for the Brussels Sprouts six and seven year old team Saturday as Brussels dumped Teeswater 4-0 in a game in Brussels. Trevor scored all four goals for Brussels, scoring two in each of the first and second periods. All eyes follow the fly Ing puck as a Brussels Crusader makes a move in front of second only to lose 9-8 to Seaforth. Sunday night the team tied 4-4 against the Seaforth net during Intermediate hockey action Saturday night in Wellesley. Brussels. PLATTSVILLE, 4 - BELGRAVE, 0 In the first game of the tourna­ ment, the Belgrave team played well but could not finish the plays around the net. The first period was scoreless with Mike Golley making some excellent saves. Plattsville scored twice in the second and twice late in the third for the win. Brad Robinson was selected as the Most Valuable Player of the game and received a medallion. BELGRAVE,2 - GEORGETOWN, 2 The second game put Belgrave against a chippy team from Georgetown. Georgetown led 1 -0 after the first and scored early in the second to go ahead 2-0. Brad Robinson’s goal from Mark Robinson cut the lead 2-1. Fifteen seconds into the third period Peter Gusso tied the score from Brad Robinson. The overtime period was score- less. Belgrave was awarded the win by outshooting Georgetown in the overtime period. The whole team played very well to get into the consolation game. Peter Gusso was selected as the Most Valuable Player of this game and also received a medallion. MILVERTON, 3 - BELGRAVE, 1 Very early in the consolation game, Brent Robinson blocked a shot at his own blue line, and went the length of the ice to score. Milverton scored a few minutes later to tie the game 1-1 after the first period. They scored late in the second period and added the insurance marker late in the third to win the consolation game. Brent Robinson was selected the Most Valuable Player of this game and received a medallion. The goalkeeper, Mike Golley played very well as did the defence of Tim, Brandon and Aaron Coul- tes, Mark Olson and Corey Moran, as with the forwards of Brad, Mark and Brent Robinson, Kyle Moran, Peter Gusso and Doug Wilson. Blyth Novice lose in week 'A' win. Blyth Novice “A” team travelled to Brussels on Friday, Jan. 13, and came home on the short end of a 3-2 hockey game. The boys came out flat, and Brussels out-skated Blyth the first two periods, and built up a 3-0 lead. In the third period, Blyth found their skating legs and impro­ ved their play. Jeff Cowan fired in two goals with Dan Chamney and Trent Richmond picking up the assists. The last five minutes was all Blyth, but the Brussels goalie, Jamie Thomas, was hot, holding the win for Brussels. On Sunday, Jan. 15, Blyth travelled to Listowel. This was a super team effort with Blyth up­ setting Listowel 3 to 0. Michael Haggitt surprised the goalie, scoring unassisted early in the game. In the second period, Trent Richmond came up big, scoring on a heads-up play by Ronnie Abel-Rinn. The action went end to end, till Dan Chamney scored putting Blyth up by three in the third. Assisting was Trent Richmond and Mark Wilson. Blyth defence of Greg Blok, Ronnie Abel-Rinn, Jeff Ferguson, and Corey Shannon helped Shane Burk­ holder keep his first shut-out of this season. Members of this team are: Corey Shannon, Darryl Bromley, Jeff Cowan, Michael Haggitt, Trent Richmond, Mark Wilson, Jeff Fer­ guson, Dan Chamney, Ronnie Abel-Rinn, Greg Blok and Shane Burkholder. The Brussels Jr. D. Bulls enjoy­ ed an excellent weekend of hockey winning two games and improving their season record to 16 wins against 12 losses. Friday night was shinny at its best. With defense non-existent the Bulls and Seaforth Cents went end to end for 60 minutes. Fortu­ nately for the Bulls they took the last shot and came home with a 9-7 win. In the game the Bulls twice blew three-goal leads and forced Jeff McGavin to come up big on a penalty shot attempt in the dying minutes of play. Brussels jumped quickly into a 3-0 lead with Deelstra, Vincent and Campbell scoring in the opening four minutes of play. Planning on an easy cake-walk the Bulls sat back and needed a last minute goal by Vincent to take a 4-4 tie to the dressing room after 20 minutes. Campbell with his second and two by Rutledge gave the Bulls a 7-4 lead after 40 minutes. Seaforth quickly tied the score in the third before Rutledge complet­ ed his hat-trick. At the 13:32 mark a Seaforth skater was awarded a penalty shot after being hauled down on a breakaway. McGavin made the save and Campbell sealed the victory with a powerplay goal with 68 seconds remaining. Sunday afternoon the Bulls upset the first place Lucan Irish by a 7-5 score making Brussels the only club to record two wins over the Irish this season. Lucan opened the scoring on the powerplay before Strome tied the game on passes from Robertson and Campbell. A powerplay goal by Rutledge from Strome sent the teams to the dressing room tied at two. Four goals in the second period, two by Strome and one each by Rutledge the lead periods. In the the hat-trick and Paul Coultes scored the insurance goal for a well deserved 7-5 win. Ron Strome became the third Bull over the weekend to notch a three-goal, two-assist game match­ ing Campbell and Rutledge’s effort on Friday night. Without a doubt the game’s number one star was defenseman Craig Robertson who repeatedly sent green sweaters crashing to the ice, while playing solid defensive hockey as well as picking up a pair of assists. Saturday night Brian Campbell, Marty Rutledge and Jeff McGavin played in the annual Jr. D. all-star game held in Lucan. The game ended in a 10-10 tie with Rutledge bringing home the M.V.P. award. Wednesday night the Bulls re­ turn to Lucan and travel to Welles­ ley Friday. The Exeter Hawks bus into town Sunday afternoon. Latest O.H.A. stats have Rut­ ledge and Campbell running 1-3 in league scoring. The $50 Bull ticket winners drawn Sunday were Hamlet Rowe, Palmerston and Jack Knight, Brus­ sels. NEW YEAR and McMillan widened to 6-4 Bulls after two third Strome completed Save up to Belgrave Tykes, The first game in Belgrave for the Tykes was against Goderich on January 14. Goderich came ready to play. Goderich controlled the play throughout the game. Belgrave’s few shots on net were handled easily by the Goderich goalie. Tim Robinson played one of his better games. Novice lose Belgrave tried hard but were defeated 15-0. The Belgrave Novice team jour­ neyed to Huron Park on January 14. Ryan Cook played a good game but he and fellow teammates just couldn’t capitalize on their chan­ ces.
