IT WAS A BIG, NIGHT last Wednesday for the children of'Iocal
Kinsmen and Kinettes when Santa arrived at the town hall for
a Christmas party. Part of the group of youngsters who-wel
corned the old boy are pictured above. They were entertained

Berry Door Holds
Christmas Party.
The annual Berry Door Christ-
mas party was held on Friday eve-
ning at the Legion Home, when a
turkey dinner was served by the
Legion Auxiliary.
Guests of honor from the par,
ent company were Glenn Berry,
president; John E. Deacon, vice-
president and Francis Mills, trea-
surer.
Herbert Fuller, general manager
of the Wingham plant, was master
of ceremonies. Mr. Berry address-
ed the gathering, -as did Mr. Dea-
con and Mr. Mills, The latter gave
the employees their Christmas -bon-
uses.
About 35 safety awards were pre-
sented to line foremen, who in turn
distributed them to personnel in
their departments who had earned
them. for a full year without lost
time through accidents. Two lines
have now completed a two_year re-
cord and the company is very
proud of this high standard.
An enjoyable social evening was
spent following the dinner.
On Monday several Berry Door
representatives attended the C.
Lloyd & Son Ltd. annual sales
meeting at the Legion I-Tomo, Vice
President ,Tohn Deacon and ,T-To
hart Munsell, general sales man-
ager, of Birmingham, also attend-
ed and outlined a program of joint
cooperation for 1962, expressing
their hope for an excellent year,

Miss Greta Harris, manager of

been a patient in Wingham, Hos-
pital since last week,
--Mrs. Ed Powell left for To-
ronto on Monday after receiving
word of the death of her brother.
• John Fryfogle has accepted a
position with the I.G.A, store in
Walkerton and began work there

Commercial Bowlers
Bowling activities were cut a
little short last week, owing to the
social function at the Legion home.
Judging from the two-game totals
there would have been some fine
triples. However, all work and no
play was not the order of the day.
High single went to Hilda Stain-
ton with 229 and Harold Taylor
with 269. High doubles went to
Grace Walden with 427 and Jim
Wild with 427.
At the end of the 'half season
Shirley Storey has the ladies' high
single and triple with a 280 and
676. Ernie Walker has the gents'
high single with 310 and Gary
E'torey the high triple with 697.
Team standings: Dodgers 61, Or-
ioles 57, Braves 54, Pirates- 54, Iled
Legs 52. Tigers 47.
President Harold and I suspect
with some help from Maxine) had
arranged for a very pleasant soc-
ial time, when all enjoyed singing,'
cards and .dancing, topped off with
a delightful lunch provided by our
own ladies. We take a holiday un-
til' Jun. 9th when all feuds will be

Everyone was, trying to bowl
their beat this weep and win a
turkey. Joyce Langridge took the
high single turkey with ft 2150. Nora
Finnigan took a turkey for the
high triple of 589. Turkeys were
given for hidden scores on each
command trophies for Tyro s and
the gun crew managed to capture
the Bell Trophy for the best gun'
crew in the Regiment. During the
summer training the Regiment was
awarded the trophy for the best,
Regiment on the one week course
at Camp Crumhin. Looking to the
future I am sure that the 99th and
the Regiment will indeed live up to
its motto, "Everywhere where faith
and glory lead."

WHITM:HURCH-The December
meeting of the Women's Institute
was held in the memorial hall here
last Tuesday. The president, Mrs.
Dan Tiffin, presided with 18 mem-
bers, two visitors and 11 of the 4-H
Club girls and their leaders present.
After the opening exercises, all en-
joyed singing the Christmas carols.
Mrs. Victor Emerson told a Christ-
mas story of the Three Wise Men.
The ladies decided to hold their
meetings on Wednesday for the
next three winter months and ac-
cepted an invitation to hold the
January meeting at the home of
Mrs. Garnet Farrier. The 4-H girls
and the leaders, Mrs. .Scholtz and
Mrs. Carl McCienaghan, modelled
their two-piece dresses and receiv-
ed groat praise for the splendid
work they had done. Their Achieve-
ment Day will be on January 27, at
Walkerton, when they will present
a skit, display their record books

There was a large number on
parade at the Wingham Armouries
on Monday night, no doubt due to
it being Pay Parade. The first
period was spent in receiving pay
from the Paymaster. A break fol-
lowed which gave time for the pro-
jector to he set up •for two excel-
lent films.
The pictures, filmed by the Can-
adian Army, depicted the artillery
in war and in peace. Many types
of weapons were seen including the
105mm howitzer in use with the
21st Field Artillery. CONTEU

CHEER the commanding officer, Major R. R P. Ritter, expressed best wishes to
the men and gave an outline for the
next year's training, He reminded
the men that Wednesday night is
the Kiddies' Party for the men,
wives and children of the 99th.
