THE LOST RIM
HAS BEEN FOUND
By P. R. Snell
Department of Lands and Forests
In a news release last September
we mentioned a. man's wedding
ring which had been found in one
of our local provincial parks-and
the owner who was lost. The inside
of the ring had been engraved with
inaitials A.K.G..W.P.B., and the date
the wedding, Jan. 29, 1941. With
is small amount of information
we decided to attempt to find the
lost owner-not really expecting
our each to he successful.

Prompted Lights
Christmas tree lights Were "born."
according to some reports, after
a little boy crawled under the
Chr!,tmas tree and upset a candle,
Luckily, only the lad's hair
singed.
The child's father, a telephone
man, decided that the candles
would have to go. In their place,
he soldered :several dozen switch-
board lamps to wires and covered
tI't•in with brightly colored paper.
Thus, safer, brighter lights re-
placed the candles on Christmas
trees.

flit first step was to write the
Registrar-General in each province
inquire it they could tell us if
marriage had been registered
itn their province. In addition, 'we
asked for the addresses of the
bride and groom at the time of the
wedding, and the ensue of the of-
ficiating clergyman,. hoping that
each bit of information would help
if the owner's current address was
not available.
Each province was very kind
and easefully checked their records,
but replies kept coming in saying
there was no record or the mar.
riage, and we began to believe the
marriage had taken place in an-
other country,
On :September 25 we had a le
ter from the office of the Ontario-,
Registrar General, 'with what Might
be .the Marriage we were lookitig

ddress of the bride and groom
at the titre of the wedding, .plate
aeriage, name and address of
the anitnsies and the infor-
that the -officia.ting clergy-
