There's no trick to it, A Volkswagen

tion keeps you out of trouble.
Another blessing in cold weather
is the VW's air-cooled engine. There's •
no water, so there's no need for
anti-freeze. You don't even need a
garage, (If your Volkswagen won't
start in sub-zero weather, check the
gas gauge.)
Look underneath a conventional
car and you'll find wires and rods
and whatnot, In deep snow they can
be a drag, and they can be damaged,
The underside of a Volkswagen is
completely covered with a smooth
sheet of metal. There's nothing to
hold you back but your own caution.
So, if clearing a snow-filled drive-
way is not for you, make friends
with a Volkswagen owner. Or, better
still, a Volkswagen dealer.

SAVE YOURSELF
THE INCONVENIENCE
OF AN ACCIDENT
Make sure your snow tire treads are good. Carry
tire chains in your trunk. Have brakes balanced
and make sure the steering system's in shape for
winter. Install anti-freeze. Check windshield wipers
to make sure you'll see where you're going. Heaters
and defrosters should work properly; so should
headlights and tail lights. And do you recall any
news stories about carbon monoxide poisoning?
Check your exhaust system for leaks. Get your car.
in shape for winter now, You might save yourself
the inconvenience of an accident.
