Phone 37/ 8b Died Suddenly Mrs. Alex Robertson, a life long resident of Wingham, died suddenly at her home on Thursday, October 26th, She was 85 years of age. • The former Clara Anne Reid, sae was a daughter of the late And- rew Reid and his wife, Catharine Sharpe. She was born in Wing- ham, received her education here, and was married to Alex Robertson on May 17, 1905. Mr. Robertson died in 1954, She was a valued member of the United Church. Surviving are two sons, Theodore A. Robertson, Midland and George A, Robertson, London, as well as two daughters, Mrs, S. A. (Mary) Noren of Tiverton and Miss Leah Robertson at home. There are sev- en grandchildren. One son, Alan, died in infancy. A brother, Robert J. Reid, resides in Regina. Service was conducted at the Currie funeral home . at 2.00 p.m., October 28th, by Rev, T, G. Hus- ser and interment was in the Wing_ ham Cemetery. Pallbearers, were John Templeman, Ken Leitch, John Mustard, A. Stimore, Howard 'Case- more and William Casemore, The flower bearers were William Rob- ertson and Edgar Robertson. • Ride in 'Diesel Closes Career A desire of long standing was realized Saturday when Lorne Ait- chison or Mitchell rode in the front end of .a diesel locomotive, pulling a passenger train. Mr, Aitchison retired Friday af- ternoon' as C.N.R. freight and pas- senger agent at Stratford, ending almost half a century of service to the railway. Friday lie was presented with a wallet and gift of money on be- half of his fellow workers. On Saturday afternoon arrangements were made for Mr. Aitchison to ride in the diesel engine pulling the afternoon train to. Toronto. He rode as far as Guelph,. and later re- turned home as a passenger on an evening train, He said he had rid- den in many steam locomotives and wanted to finish -his career with a ride in a diesel. Allan Munro in the Wingham General Hospital last Wednesday, Mr. Munro, who was 58 years of agde was a native of Wroxeter and had operated a general store in that community 'for many years. He was a son of the late Alex- ander Munro and his wife, Janet Allan. In 1934 he married Laura Wright, of Wroxeter, who survives, with one 'daughter, Winnifred, at hoine. , Mr. Mupro was an active mem- ber of the Lions Club, the Masonic Lodge and the United Church, in which he served as an elder. He was predeceased by two bro- thers and two sisters, Donald J. aVeunro, Dr. John Munro, Miss Anne Munro and Miss Winnifred Munro, Service ' Was conducted at the Moir ,funeral ,home. in Gorrie on Saturday at 2.30 by Rev, F. W. Taylor with interment in the Wrox- eter cemetery. The palbearers were Gordon Gibson, Gilbert Howes, George Gibson, Bruce Chambers, James Wylie and Tom Burke. The floral tributes were carried by Roy Hunter, jini Doig, Lloyd Hupfer, Harvey Reidt, Ted Smith, Bill Hart, Ira McLean and Fred Mont- gomery, A Masonic service under the auspices of Forest Lodge No. 162, Wroxeter, was held on Friday eve- ning.
