Dr. Lowrie was a native of Ontario. lie was a son of James Lowrie of Mornington Township and Mary Barton of Belmore. The family lived in the Gorrie-Belmore dis- trict for several years and then at Dr, Lowrie was one of a family of 13, two of whom died in infancy. He was a graduate of the -Calvet-a Say of Toronto and a post graduate in gynecelogy of Johns Hopkins University. He was the author of two volumes of gynecology, used extensively by Canadian and Am- erican physicians,. as well as sev- eral professional papers. During has 40 years practice in New York he was on the clinic staff and a counsellor in New York City and other hospitals.
