On Friday, August '20th a fox ap-
peared at. the home of Lloyd Mona:'
gomery and the family dog chased
in into the drive shed. Fortunately,
both Mr. Montgomery and the gun
were in the shed. He shot the fox,
but not before the dog had teen
bitten.
Dr, IVIcClennan of Seaforth had
the head sent away for examina-
tion and word has been received
that the fox was definitely rabid.
Neighbors and other residents In
the area are requested by the vet-
erinarian to keep a sharp watch on
all animals as it is not known how
far the fox had travelled. Fear-
ing that livestock may have been
bitten, he asks that he be contacted
immediately should anyone notice
an animal acting strangely, not
eating or drinking, or with saliva
coming from its mouth.
In ease an animal should 'be
found dead he would like to be no-
tified, even though it is not sus-.
petted that it was rabid. Do not
leave a dead animal in the sun be-
fore contacting him, as this could
affect the brain and so prevent
proper analysis.
The dog which was bitten at the
Montgomery farm is in isolation to
ascertain whether or not the ani-
mal has contracted the disease,
