Buried Friday
Funeral service was held from
the R. A. Currie & Sons funeral
home on Friday afternoon for John
Henry ,yariCarnp of 'Belgrave,, who
passed away in Wingham General
Hospital on Aug, 23, following a
long illness.
Rev, Robert Meally officiated.
Pallbearers were Harry Wright,
Lawson Doig, Morris Bosman,
Cooper Nethery, Chris Nethery and
George Johnston. Floral tributes
were carried by Clare, John end
Glen VanCamp. Interment was in
Brandon cemetery.
A son of John H. VanCarn,p and
Eliza Nethery, he was born 70 years
ago in Morris Township. He at-
tended S.S. 5, Morris.
On February 11, 1914, he mar-
ried Bertha Rose Haney of Blue-
vale, who predeceased him Janu-
ary 28, 1934. He was a farmer and
was also bridge foreman for the
County of Huron for ten years. He
has lived retired since June, 1953.
Mr. VanCamp was a member of
the Anglican Church and the LO.L.
in Belgrave,
Surviving are two sons, Ronald
K. and Howard L, VanCamp of
Wingham and Ethel respectively;
a brother, William G., and a sister,
Miss Nora A. VanCamp, both Of
Belgrave.

ness.
'''He was born in Lucknow on
ept, 7th, 1875, being in his 86th.
ar. He was a son of the late
illiam Holmes and Alicia Taylor.
He received his education at the
Lucknow public school and Goder-
'eh Collegiate. Mr, Holmes was
on the staff of the Bank of Ham-
ilton in Wingham and in other
branches before coming to Gorrie,
where he was manager until 1953,
the Bank of Hamilton having merg-
ed with the Bank of Commerce. He
was a resident 'of Gorrie some 60
years.
Mr. Holmes was a faithful mem-
ber of St. Stephen's Anglican
Church and served as secretary-
treasurer for some 50 years. He
-was also a member of the Masonic
and Orange orders.
Hig wife, the former Mary Edith
Perkins of Gorrie, to whom he
wee married In 1912, predeceased
in 1954. Surviving is one ag-
e; Miss Irene Holmes, of Tenon-
o, two nephews and two nieces.
Funeral service was in St. Ste-
phen's Anglican Church on Thurs-
day, Aug. 10th, &inducted by the
Rev, E, C, Attwell. Interment was
in. the Gorrie cemetery, A lure.

August 20th, at her home there.
She was the former Cora Elizabeth
Frit.ziey.

ing of the Evening Auxiliary of
the Women's Missionary Society,
Knox United Church, was held at
the home of Mrs. Clifford Logan on
Tuesday evening with 17 members
answering the roll call.
The president, Mrs. Logan, open-
ed the meeting with a, hymn, fol-
lowed by routine reports by the sec-
retary and treasurer. The penny
collection was received, and Mrs.
James Coultes gave a report of the
receipts from catering to a wedding,
The September meeting will be
held on the 19th, because of the
School Fair. There were 11 home
and 9 hospital visits to the sick and
shut in recorded.
Mrs. Ross Anderson, assisted by
Mrs. Cameron Walsh and Mrs.
Gordon Bosman, were in charge of
the program, the theme being "Free
MatUrity." Mrs, Anderson read
about Japan and the havoc caused
by the atom bomb. Mrs. George
Johnston conducted a contest and
