FORDWICH—The United Church WA held its August meeting in the church basement -with Mrs. Wray Cooper, vice-president, pre- siding. The ladies enjoyed quilting. The meeting opened -with the hymn, "0 Master Let Me Walk With Thee." Mrs. George Pitten- ilreigh read the Scripture, taken from Phil ippians. , The devotional theme, "The Thirteenth Zinnia," was, read by Mrs, Cooper and- followed with prayer. The-'hymn "We Give Thee But Thine -Own" was followed by a reading "The Girls 'Who W044 for Nothing," was given by Mrs, $tan Bride. Minutes were read and approved and roll call was answered by 13, members. It was -decided to_ inaic% two Dresden plate quilts for a custornet. The meeting closed_ with _a poem "At 'Church Next Sunday," and the l adies enjoyed a pot luck lunch. FATHER, SONS, AND BRIDES PRESENTED FORDWICH — A unique event was held Friday night in the com- muntly hall when a triple reception was given for three newly married couples. A father and his two sons. Mr. and Mrs. Earl Cober, Mr. and Mrs. Peter Cober, and Mr. and Mrs. Glenn Caber. Mr. ?Anson Ratan read the address and each couple was given a copy, Mr. and Mrs. Earl Cober were presented with a chesterfield and chair, Mr. and Mrs. Peter Cobol. a TV chair and lamp, and Mr. and Mrs. Glenn Cober a triple trilight. Each groom replied and a variety program was enjoyed. Lunch was served. Minister Inducted Into Three Churches FORDWICH — Rev. Alex Coles, ' formerly of Gambo, Newfoundland, !was inducted as minister of the 1 three-fold charge or Fordwich, Mayne and Newbridge United Churches, Rev. Robert S. Hiltz, of I Main Street United Church, Exeter, and Rev. John H. Vardy, of Eg- mondville United Church officiated tat the service. Rev. Mr. Vardy took as his theme "In Touch With God and Men." Rev, Mr. Coles was born in New- foundland and received his BA de- gree from Mount Allison University and his BD degree in Pine Hill Divinity College, Halifax, He was ordained in 1956 and his 'first charge was in Epworth, Newfound- land, where he remained for three years before taking the three point charge at Gambo, where he has been for the past two years, Rev. Mr. Coles is married and has an eighteen-months-old son, Donald. Attwell officiated, Laurie Vanvelsior, ,of Hamilton, gave his sister in marriage, She wore a street-length dress of or- ganza of powder blue, over brocad- ed taffeta, pale beige hat mid ac- cessories, and a corsage of Sweet- heart• Attending the bride was her sister-in-law, Mrs. Laurie Van- velsior, who wore a beige linen costume with white accessories and a corsage of Sweetheart roses. Peter Browne, of Fordwich, bro- ther of the_ groom, was best man. me reception was held at the summer home of Mr. and Mrs. Laurie Vanvelsior in Wroxeter. For a wedding trip to the St. Lawrence Seaway and eastern points the -bride travelled in a s ldalwood tailored costume with matching accessories. They will live on the groom's farm.
