whose marriage to Harold Smits
will take place in. Winghain in
August, has been honored at sev-
eral prenuptial events,
The bride-elect is the eldest
daughter of Mr. and. Mrs. G. W.
(Bert) Armstrong of Wingh.am,
and her fiance is the son of Mr.
and Mrs. J. Smite of Holland.
Mrs. Armstrong entertained at a
trousseau tea, on Wednesday eve-
ning- in honor of her daughter.
Guests were received by the
'bride-elect, her mother and Mrs.
Gordon MacKay, representing the
groom's mother,
Miss Heather Hueston was in
charge of the guest book. Tea was
poured by Mrs. Harold Procter and
Mrs. Ruth Hueston, aunt of the
bride-to-be.
Serving were Misses Marilyn
Riehl, Joyce Crothers, Mrs. Jack
Salter and Mrs. Charles Thomas.
Helping in the kitchen were. Mrs.
David Crothers and Mrs. L. Mit-
chell.
Miss Helen Ann 'Armstrong, ;sis-
ter of the bride-elect, displayed
the wedding gifts. Mrs. Frank
Burke, Mrs, Ken Alton, Mrs, Jblin
Spivey and Miss Ruth Ann Hues-
ton showed the trousseau.

urday afternoon at three o'clock,
uniting Marie Eleanore Hastie and
Robert John Strong in matrimony.
The Tows were taken in Gorrie Un-
ited Church, which was decorated
with white Shasta mums, delphin-
ium, fern and candelabra.
The bride is the daughter of Mr.
and Mrs, Kenneth H. 1.•lastie, of
Gorrie and the groom is the son
of Mr. and Mrs. John W. Strong,

Miss Armstrong
A shower was held on Thursday
evening at the home of Mrs, L.
Mitchell in honor of Miss Mary
Alice Armstrong, bride-elect of
August 12th, Assisting with the
shower were Mrs. M. Swanson,
Miss Marilyn Riehl and Miss Edna
Mitchell.
Miss Armstrong was presented
with an ironing board and . clothes
basket. Each member present al-
so presented her with • canned
goods, spices end kitchen supplies.
In her reply the bride-to.be ex-
pressed her sincere thanks for the
.gifts, Contests were enjoyed by
everyone, Refreshments were
served by the hostess.
A shower was also held at the
home of Miss Armstrong's aunt,
Mrs. Harold Procter.. Assisting
the hostess were Mrs. Stewart
Procter, Mrs. Charles Thomas, Mrs.
John Spivey _and. Mrs, Ken Alton.

length gown of silk faille with fit-
ted bodice, lily-point sleeves and a,

glitter tiara held an over-the-face
four-tier scalloped imported silk
illusion veil and she carried a bou-

The bride's attendants, her Sis-
ter, Miss Margaret Hastie of Gu-
elph as maid of honor, and Misses
Barbara Linton, Kitchener, and
Joanne Strong, sister of the groom,
bridesmaids, wore white nylon or.
ganza gowns, ballerina length,
with cornflower self-embroidery.
Their full bouffant skirts over
silk taffeta and crinolines fell from
their fitted bodices with Empire
waistlines. They wore headbands
of yellow and white mums and
carried nosegays of the same.
Best man was Doug Whitfield of
Gorrie and' the ushers were Tore
Hastie, brother of the bride, To-
ronto, and Alex Strong, brother of
the groom, of HR. 1, Crorrie,
The church parlors were suitably
decorated for the reception with
the bride's table centred with a
three-tier wedding cake. Guests
were present from Toronto, Lon
don, Erindale, Stouffville, Kitch-
oner, Milton, St. Thomas, Listowel,
Wingham, Norwich, Guelph, Brus-
sels, Bluevale and Wroxeter.
The bride's mother received the
guests, attired in a white and sea-,
grass green ensemble with match-
ing accessories and a corsage of
pink carnations. Assisting her
was the groom's mother, wearing
figured silk organza over a pale
blue sheath with matching acces-
sories. Her corsage was also of
pink carnations.
For a wedding trip to northern
points Mrs. Strong wore organza
over an antique brown and maize
silk sheath With a matching Susie
Wong three-quarter length jacket
featuring side slits and Mandarin
collar. Her accessories were in
antique brown with a corsage of
white carnations, and yellow Taw-
ny Gold roses. Mr. and Mrs, Strong
will live near Gorrie.
