WHITECIIIJRCH — The regular Monthly meeting of the Women's Institute was held last Tuesday "'evening with the president, Mrs, part Tiffin, presiding. Mrs. Johnston Conn moved a vote of thanks to Mr. Welwood, and the meeting was, closed with the National Anthem All enjoyed the social hour that followed, CHURCHILL AT OTTAWA The first Prime Minister of Great Britain 'to make an official visit to Canada, was Winston Churchill on his wartime visits to Ottawa. Mrs. Galbraith read the address- es, which she had composed in rhyme. Mrs. Glad Edgar present- ed Mrs. Ewart Whitfield with a gift in recognition of many years as superintendent. Mrs. Clifford PYIte made the presentation of a gift to Mrs. J. E. Clarke, who leav- es for Toronto next month. Miss Marie liastie, bride-to-be. was seated in a chair decorated in yellow and white. Misses Carol Robinson and Corinne Rharne pre- sented her with miscellaneous gifts in decorated baskets, Mrs. Rus- sell Adams had Miss Hastie model an apren and the ladies embroider- ed their names on patches to be appliqued on it.
