OIRST PRESIDENT
WARIER MEMBER;
WEST SPEAKER'
WROXETER --Members of the
Wroxeter c.O,LT, held their re-af-
filiation service with the W,M.S.
in the church school room last
Tuesday evening.
.The meeting opened with music,
with Mrs. James Doig at the piano,
and the worship service was con-
ducted by Mrs. IC, Edgar, The
theme was "Unity of Christ's
Church".
The commentary, "Why Mis-
sions?" dealt with the personal op-
inion of a girl from Formosa, Leone
Su How, a member of a Buddhist
family, who was attending the Na-
tional C.G.I.T, Camp, and who sum-
med up this as, "Mission is not
something which -the church may
or may not be interested in, but
the very life blood of our Christian
faith,"
A poem, by Grace Noll Crowell,
"Thank God for Youth" was read
by Mrs. Edgar, who also led in
prayer. Kaye Wright and Louise
Edgar received the offering.
Mrs. James Sanderson, W,M.S.
President, introduced the guest
speaker, Mrs, Art Gibson, and told
that she had been the first C.G.I.T,
president when the Gorrie group
was formed, and had taken great
interest in the work, both as a
member and later as a leader, Mrs.
Gibson gave a most interesting and
inspiring talk, explaining that the
OG.I,T, had been formed id 1915,
and although there had been some
changes since that time the aims
and 'purpose remained the same.
She said there are some 40,000
girls' in 4,000 groups, doing a won-
derful work, and they need support,
She also told many interesting ac-
counts of personal experiences
while attending the C.G.I.T. gradu-
ation exercises, banquets and camp-
ing, and showed snapshots of
Camp Scugog, and other camps she
had attended, both as a member
and some as a leader. She claimed
that C.G.I.T, opened so many in-
teresting fields, was the means of
girls meeting so many interesting
and helPful people, and provided
such a wonderful means of devel-
opment for a girl that it should in-
deed be considered a real privilege
to be a member.
Mrs. Lloyd McGee 'thanked the
speaker and Dawn Lou Clark pre-
sented a gift.
Those taking part in the re-af-
filiation service were the C.G.I.T.
leader, Mrs. L. McGee, their presi-
dent, Catherine Edgar, the trea-
surer, Lynn Wright, Carol Louttit,
Leone Chambers and Betty Ann
Adams, Mrs. J. Sanderson, W.M.S.
president and .Mrs. S. Higgins, the
local secretary for younger groups.
The girls gave a summary of their
work •during the year, telling of
their study, anti of the financial
support they had given in helping
with the support of the Christian
College of Rural Life in Allahabad,
and the 'hew Christian University
at Yonsei, as well as the commun-
ity centre "The Kyoaikan" in
Tokyo, and Ravemcco. •They were
congratulated by Mrs. Sanderson,
who presented them with the Seal
of Re-affiliation, Mrs. Higgins
presented Leone Chambers, Louise
Edgar, Connie Clarke and Kaye
Wright with their World Friend-
ship insignia, explaining the sym-
bols.
A short worship service, conduct-
ed by the C.G.I.T. president, and
assisted by the treasurer and the
W.M.S. president followed, in which
the girls repeated their Purpose,
Following the benediction, pro-
nounced by Catherine Edgar, a
social time was enjoyed and lunch
was served by the W.M,S.
