stitute met in the community hall
one night last week for the June
-meeting. Mrs, John Craig was in
charge. Minutes were read by Mrs,
- Crosby Sothern,
Devotions were taken by Mrs.
George Ashton. Mrs. Scott Clark-
son gave the motto, "Farming is
Like a wheelbarrow, it stands still
unless you push it," She said far-
mers are regulated by nature, not
by -clocks. Their servants are
lightning and rain. Due to scien-
tific development they have gain -
ed wider knowledge.
Mrs. Stan Bride and Mrs, Amon
Deinerling gave the highlights of
the district annual. Mrs, Robert
Gibson gave the report of the suc-
cessful canvass by the members
for the Red Shield of the Salva-
tion Army,
Mrs. William Campbell intro-
duced the guest speaker, Mrs, Ron
McMichael of Wroxeter, who gave
the history and beginning of the
jects which they carry out during
the year, Mrs. McMichael also fa-
vored with two violin selections.
She was presented with a gift by
Mrs. Emma Williamson.
Final plans were made for the
bus trip on July 18th and a com-
mittee was named to look after de-
tails. The meeting closed and lunch
was served by the hostesses, Mrs.
Emma Williamson, Mrs. Robert
Gibson, Mrs. Nina Armstrong and
Mrs. W, Campbell.

the bride. Mrs. Vurig was the
former Mabel Vines.
They resided in Egremont Town-
ship, where they farmed' for eight
years before moving to Fordwich
In 1941. They have a daughter,

Lunch was served to 40 guests
from Palmerston, Listowel, Kurtz-
vale, Mildmay and Owen Sound.

FORDWICH -The 14.0.B.A, met
In the lodge rooms in Fordwich
last week, Mrs. Ernie Darcy,
W.M,, was in the chair.
A donation was voted to the
British Sailors' fund. The initia-
tion of three new members into
the order was conducted. Mrs. Ei-
mer Miller, Mrs. Vim. Clyne and
Mrs. John Leppington. were given
the Orange degree.
Final plans were made for the
Orange church service to be held
in Fordwich Anglican Church, The
meeting adjourned anil a social
half hour was spent.

dance was held in the Fordwich
community hall on Friday night in
honor of Mr. and Mrs, Harold Gib-
son (Clara Baetzi.
Silence Brears read the address
and the young couple were present-
ed with a china cabinet, and a sum
of money. Harold and Clara thank-
ed everyone. Lunch was served
and dancing was enjoyed to mush
supplied by Lambkin's orchestra.

water. Nine tables of euchre were
in play and a delicious lunch was
served.

of roses. Mr. Shaw gave his daugh-
ter in marriage,
Edith Shaw, maid of honor, wore
a pink organza dress -and hat, to
match. Thelma Cowing was at-
tired in yellow organza and match-
ing hat and Sharon Thompson,
who with Miss Cowing acted as
bridesmaid, wore maave organza.
