TENDERS FOR DRAINS
The regular meeting of the BOW-
ick Township Council was held in
the clerk's office with all members
present and the reeve, Arthur Gib-
son, in the chair. The minutes Of
the previous regular meeting, spec-
ial Meeting -and drainage court of
revision. Meetings were read -and
on motion of Strong and King were
adopted as read,
R, Gibson -Bing— That the en-
gineer's report on the Berlett - Gih
son drain be accepted and provi-
sionally adopted; and that the
clerk be hereby instructed to pre-
pare the necessary by-law and
copies of same; and that applica-
tion for provincial aid -be made to
the Department of Publie Works
of Ontario,
Haskins -R. Gibson -- That we
accept the tender of Carl Willis on
the Frank David drain..

FORDWIOB • Velma Jean Eurig
was given in marriage by her
grandfather, Mr, John Eurig, at a
double-ring ceremony at Fordwich
United Chlareh on Saturday after-
noon, When she became the bride
of Vernon Roger Jacobson, son of
Mr. and Mrs, Carl Jacobson.
Rev„L W. Bird officiated, Miss
Violet ResWItherick presided at the
organ and Miss Pauline Setbern
sang "Wedding Prayer" and "0,
Perfect Love." The church was
beautifully decorated with candel-
abra, lilacs and spire.
The

. bridal gown, was white nylon
organza over taffeta, street-length,
with lace inserts on the skirt and
bodice, The sleeves were three-
quarter length and her finger-tip,
illusion veil was held by a tiara of
pearls and sequins, She carried a
white Bible crested with white
mums, from which fell satin
streamers.
Miss Bonnie Inglis, and Miss
Beverley Jacobson, sister of the
groom, were her attendants, dress-
ed in street-length dresses of silk
organza, over mauve taffeta, fast',
toned with rounded necklines and
gathered bodices-, They wore match-
ing gloves and net headbands and
carried white and yellow baby
Elwood Jacobson was the best
man and the guests were ushered
to their seats by Gary Jacobson.
A reception followed: in the
church parlor when Mrs. William
lVfarriner and the groom's mother,
Mrs. Jacobson, received the guests.
Mrs. Marriner wore a beige sheath
with lilac accessories and a cor-
sage of yellow mums. The' groom's
mother was attired in a green and
white silk printed sheath with
white Accessories and a corsage of
pink /1111:MS.
The bride's table was centred
with a three storey wedding cake,
candles and white• and yellow
mums.
Guests were present from Ford-
wich and Toronto, and the groom's
grandmother from Saskatchewan
was an honored guest.
For their trip to Northern On-
tario Mrs. Jacobson chose a deep
mauve boxy suit with white acces-
sories and mauve mum corsage.
They will live in Fordwich.

GUEST AUXILIARIES
FORDWIOH—The Ladies' Aux-
iliary to Howlett- Legion No. 307,
met in the -Legion rooms for their
regular meeting with the president,
Corn. Templeman, presiding. Min-
utes -of the last meeting were read
and the financial statement given
by the treasurer.
An invitation was accepted from
Goderich Auxiliary to attend a
birthday party on June 22nd. Plans
were -made and committees named
for a social night on July 5th with
Myth, Lucknow and Brussels aux-
iliaries as guests.
It was decided to hold a rum-
mage sale, bazaar and tea in Ford-
wich in October.
Members signed a birthday card
to be sent to the adopted soldier
in London, The .meeting closed
with the national anthem and a so-
cial half hour was spent.

Anglican. Church met 'at Mrs. Em-
erson Hargrave's last Wednesday,
The Scripture was read by Mrs.
Peter Browne and minutes and cor-
respondence were read.
The roll call, a woman of the
Bible, was answered by 12 ladies
and two visitors, Mrs. Strong led
in the litany, Bulletins were read.
Mrs. Forster and Mrs, Strung re-
ported on the Deanery meeting in
Brussels. Mrs. Forster gave a
chapter from the study book "Talk-
ing Together," assisted by Mrs,
Armstrong, Mrs. Brears, Mrs. Har,°
grave and Mrs. Browne. The meet-
ing closed with prayer by Mrs,
Foster,
Mrs. Simmons had al couple of
contests. Lunch was served by Mrs.
Hargrave, Mrs. Brears and Mrs,
Forster,

GORRIE—The directors -of the
Howlett Fair board met recently in
the Gorrie Orange Hall, The so-
ciety is again sponsoring the Wo-
men's Institute and Girls' Club
projects, along with the two field
crop competitions in grain and corn
and boys' 4-H Clubs.
The secretary was asked to con-
tact judges for all the departments
of the fair and committees Were
named to canted Hoiviek and
Turnberry councils about grants
for the fair.
