Goodfellow, minister. of agriculture, has announced that a. milk composition study will be undertaken immediately by the On- tario Department of Agriculture. The study, requested by the dairy industry, will concern itself initially with the protein content of Ontario milk from which solids-not-fat con- tent may be easily established. Making the announcement Mr. Goodfellow said that he considered the project was of the utmost im- portance to the dairy industry and that the findings of the study -could result in a new mathpd of pricing milk in Ontario and pos- sibly open up new -approaches to the breeding of dairy cattle. Surveys made in other countries indicate that the protein content of milk is subject to wide. varia- tions and that it has been demon- strated that the protein content, is largely a hereditary factor.
