A letter from Robert Wenger,
who has been investigating the
possibility of forming a conserva-
tion authority for the Maitland
River Watershed, was read, and
council approved a request to send
a resolution to the Department of
Commerce and Development, re-
questing a formal meeting under
the 'Conservation Act.
Council was also invited to join
a bus tour of the Saugeen River
Authority on June 21st, sponsored
by the Middle Maitland Authority.
Three members indicated they
would be interested in going.
A list of tax arrears was handed
to -council, which showed 97 pro-
perty owners in arrears to the ex-
tent of $22,274.89. The clerk was
instructed to prepare a warrant for
tax sale of all properties for which
taxes are in arrears for three or
more years. The warrant will be
submitted to the next meeting of

The marathon dance which drew
four entries was a new feature, and
its windup was watched by a crowd
of several nundred persons in the
tent. Four couples entered the
marathon and all of them stayed
with it for the ten and a half hours
of continuous dancing. The mare-
then -comMenced at 12.30 noon and
went through until the final record I
was played at 11 that evening. The ,
