The Wingham C.G.LT. Mother
and Daughter banquet was held on
Tuesday in the Sunday School
room of the United Church. The
tables were decorated in blue and
white, the C.G.LT. colors, and
posters and flowers adorned the
room. One hundred and twelve
enjoyed; .the turkey...banquet pre-
pared by the Young Woman's
Auxiliary of the W.M.S.
The guest speaker, Mrs. Grant
McLean of Hensall is the C,G.I.T.
secretary for Huron Presbyterial.
She spoke of the importance in
the girls' lives of the C.G.I.T, Pur-
pose and of a mother's influence.
Mrs. R. Ahara. thanked Mrs. Mc-
Lean and presented her with a
gift.
Jane Hetherington was chair-
man and Mary Lou' Jamieson paid.
tribute to the Church, responded
to by Rev. T. G. Husser. Susan
Spry paid tribute to the mothers
and Mrs. 0. Hudgins replied. Peg-
gy Ahara paid tribute to the
W,M.S., to which Mrs. D. Rosen-
hagen responded.
Mrs . G. W. Tiffin presented
awards to eleven girls who • had
100 per cent attendance records for
the year. These are: First year,
Audrey Collar, Nancy Donaldson,
Peggy Rae, Susan Spry, Laura
Walper, Fiona Edwards. ,Second
year, Edna Mae 'Armstrong, Nor-
een Nicol, Mary Lou Jamieson,
Peggy Ahara, Roche Schipper.
On behalf of the Evening Auxil-
iary Mrs. C. Hodgins presented
lanyards to the Senior girls. FA-
eanor Goy gave the valedictorian's
address on behalf of the Wingham
girls who are now graduates of
C.G.LT.
The musical selections much en-
joyed were a piano solo, "To The
Rising Sun", by Brenda Conron;
a duet, "Stars Are the Windows of
Heaven", by Jane Day and Ruth
-Ann Hamilton; a double trio, "This
Is My Father's World", was sung
by Alma Jane Elliott, Judy Callan,
Susan Spry, Bonnie Jardir„ Pam-
ela Burns and Noreen Nicol. Mrs.
Goy accompanied the girls at the
piano.
Everyone joined in a slag-song
before the Semper Fidelis Group
presented the comic-tragedy "The
Fatal Quest". The evening's pro-
gram closed with the friendship
circle and the singing of Taps.

BELGRAVD—The regular ,meet-
ing of the Evening Auxiliary of the
Woman's Missionary Society • of
Knox United Chiireh WaS' held 'Oa
Monday evening in the church. As
this was the affiliation service for .
the Canadian Girls in Training,
these members, their mothers and
members of the Afternoon Auxil-
iary were present.
The CGIT members opened the
meeting with a hymn, and their
Purpose, followed by the business
period of the Auxiliary, which in-
eluded the minutes and roll call by
Mrs. Clarence Hanna and the fi-
nancial statement by Mrs. Robert
Grasby. There were seven home.
and 23 hospital visits to the sick
and shut-in recorded.
The group decided to send one
registration to Alma College for
younger groups, for August 22 to
25. Mrs. Dorothy Logan, Mrs. Al-
bert Bieman, Mrs. Harold Vincent
and Mrs, Sam Pletch were noritia-
ated to act on the provisional eonv+
mittee of the United Church Wo-
men.
The group agreed to cater to a
wedding dinner in the near future.
The affiliation service took plaet
with Mrs. Sam 'Pletch reading the
desire of the MIT group to af-
filiate; Mrs. George Michie repre-
sented the WMS and Ruth aVRehie
and Linda Coultes represented the
girls, Mrs. Clifford Logan gave out
the badges to the nine girls. Ruth
Michle led in prayer and Linda
read the meditation.
Marie Coultes introduced a skit
by seven members of the Cart,
"Into the World Together," and the
girls gave a musical number. A film
strip, "Ambassadors Of Pick and
Shovels" was shown, This filar was
taken in a work camp. Mrs. 3.. H.
Anderson was narrator.
