May 10th with an attendance of 29,

giving brief replies to selected
questions of current interest. The
replies created interest and amuse-
ment.
Mrs. Bert Garniss gave eurreut
events on education, mentioning
the building of new schools in the
district, the stg3g,ested vocational
school for Huron County, the move-
ment for return to more examin-
ations and other matters which
provoked discussion,
Mrs. Harry Elliott, librarian, gave •
an outline of Canadian literature,
With its two classifications, ltng-
ish and French. She named a num-
ber of Canadian poets and quoted
from their poems—Sangster, Mair,
Roberts, Lamprrian, Carman, Drum-
mond, D. C. Scot, Pauline John-
ston. Prose writers—Parker, Ralph
Connor, Nellie hieClung, L. M.
Montgomery, Stephen Leacock.
Emily Carr were familiar names.
Mrs. Eliott read an amusing ex-
tract from the work of Pierre Ber-
ton, columnist.
The hostess, Mrs, C, B. Hoffman,
was assisted by Mrs, George Heth-
erington, Mrs. M. L ,Aitken and
Miss Dorothy Greenaway in serv-
ing refreshments, and a social
time was enjoyed.

IN SUNDAY SERVICE
BLUEVALE—A special order of
service was used in Knox Presby-
terian Church for Mother's Day,
with a large and appreciative aud-
ience in attendance.
The junior choir, under the splen-
ild leadership of the .organist, Mrs.
Nora Moffatt, led the worship ser-
vice, and sang as an anthem "Birds
Arc Singing.' Mary Robertson led
the responsive reading with the
junior choir responding. Judy Bit-
ton read the Old Testament Scrip-
ture and Hugh Mundell had the
New Testament Scripture.
Rev, T, E. Kennedy, minister of
the church, spoke on "The Chris-
tian Home."

Mrs, A. D. Smith and Miss Elean-
or Smith attended a miscellaneous
shower, given In honor of the latter
at the home of Miss Diane Brady,
at. Whitby, on Saturday evening.

BLUEVALE Family Day was
observed in the United Church on
Beating and Harry McArthur gave
a nurnber and a Masonic choir led
the singing with Reg Bitten at the
organ,
Masons were present from Luck-
now, Teeswater, Brussels, Vordwich,
Stratford and CaMpbeliford.
Sunday, the Sunday School super-
intendent, Ross Smith, conducting
the service which was arranged- for
Adults and children.
In the absence of Rev. W. R.
Welsh through illness, Mrs. Welsh
gave an address on character build-
ing, with special reference to
Christian homes. Mrs. Glen John-
ston, organist, led the choir in ap-
propriate music. Spring flowers
decorated the church.
