vice-president, chaired the W.A.
meeting of the United Church held
in the Sunday School room. The
ladies worked on a quilt..
The business meeting opened
with, hymns. Mrs. Emma William.

Luke, and the comments, Mrs,
:Cooper read a poem, "Leave It with
Him".
The minutes were read .and roll
call answered by 16 members. Mrs.
Richards reported on the buying
of bud vases for hospitals.
The menu committee was named
'for the garden party which will .be
held the middle of July,, and the
meeting closed with the hymn, "All
Things Bright and Beautiful" and
prayer.
Lunch was served by Mrs, A.
Stinson, Mrs. S. Clarkson and Mrs.
G. Richards.

the C.G.T.T. Mother and Daughter
banquet hold in the Fordwich Un-
ited Church on Monday evening.

formed by Miss Pat Harris, assis-

toast to the church and Mrs. It

ening Mr. and Mrs. Wellington
Hargrave were pleasantly surprised

lin, 92, passed away in Wingharn
General. Hospital, Sunday, May 7.
He was born at Smiths Falls on
March 23, 1869, son of the late
Thomas Jaeklin and Ruth Cope-
land. He farmed in Howlck Town-
ship most of his life, His wife,
Christine Wright, predeceased him
December 28th, 1938. Webster Her-
bert jaeklin also predeceased him
August 14th, 1958.
He leaves one sister, Mrs. James
Vanden (Jemima), Victoria, B;C. -
Funeral services were held Tues-
day, at the Moir funeral home,
Gorrie, with Rev, E. 0. Attwell
officiating. Pallbearers were,Robt.
McDonald, Morley McMichael,
Tyndall and Ewart MeKercher,.

tained the grandmothers of the
community and the Wroxeter Wo-
men's Institute at the Gorrie com-
munity hall on Tuesday evening.
Thirty-six grandmothers answered
the roll call by telling of a popular
song of their teens.
Mrs. Gladstone Edgar gave the
current events, on the life of the
late Miss Adelaide Clayton, Lis-
tOwel, who started the Junior Red
Cross. The moto, "To view our
Past with pride, to face the future
with faith" and was given by Mrs.
Norman Wade.
Mrs. John Baylor introduced the
guest speaker, Reginald Tompkins,
Listowel florist, who presented
each grandmother with a gardenia
corsage. Then lie discussed the
care of house plants and cut flow-
ers and showed a film. He also
conducted a floWer contest with
potted plants for prizes, which
were won by Mrs, William Wright,
Mrs. Elmer Farrish and Mrs. Gor-
don Edgar.
Miss Corinne Rhame sang ."Just
a Song at Twilight" and "Let the
Reg of the World Go By". She
was accompanied by Mrs. Harry
Rhame.
Mrs. Russell Adams, Mrs. Glad-
stone Edgar, Mrs. Morley Johns-
ton and Mrs. Willard Peel, dressed
in appropriate costume, rendered
"Old Black Joe". Misses Wanda
Spalding and Katharine Klinelt
sang a duet accompartied by Mrs.
Clarence Spatting.
Prizes were given to Mrs. Willard
Peel, youngest grandmother; Mrs.
Mabel Stewart, oldest grandmoth-
er; Mrs. Ambrose David, most
children; Mrs. Lottie Thornton,
newest grandchild; Mrs. Howard
Wylie, lucky cup prize.
Lunch was served and the nieet•
ing closed by all repeating the
Mary Stewart Collect.
