A. balcony has been erected at the back and new shelves have been placed in the dispensary. The stationery, music and phonographs will be moved from the store to 'the north which will be fitted up as a restaurant and ice cream parlour, Many complaints are being made about chickens being allowed to run at large in Wingham. Flower bulbs, etc., are no* coming up and chickens scratching around the flower beds will cause considerable damage. The business men of Wingham met in the council chamber on Tuesday morning and unanimously decided to close their places of 'business every Wednesday after- noon at twelve o'cock during the skimmer months. Miss Margaret Perrie is visiting at her home here. She is studying at the Deaconness Home 'in Tor- onto. The evening's pro- gram was in charge of Mr. and. Mrs. Wilbur Tiffin, Mr, and Mrs. IR.oy Bennett,' Mr. and Mrs. George Guest, Mr. and Mrs. Jack Reavie and Mr. and -Mrs. Bill Willis. The theme of the worship service was "Influence" and was ably con- ducted by Mr. and Mrs. Wilbur Tiffin. Two beautiful coloured films were then enjoyed named "Klondike Holiday" and "West Coast Playground", Earl Halniltori' operated the, projector for these really outstanding views of Can-' ada's Northland. and the Pacific Coast. A short business session followed, 'conducted by the presidents, Mr. and Mrs. Wilfred Caslick, , The members adjourned to the gymnasium where a brief session of square dancing was enjoyed. The evening closed with a delicious lunch served by the program corn, mittee. Inter Club Meet. Eighteen members -of the Wing- ham Kinette Club attended the 'Zone B Inter-Club dinner and meeting in the Owen Sound Col- liseum on Wednesday. 'There were about 200 present from the ten clubs in the zone Helen Drysdale, district convener of Hensall and her executive were' present. During the business ses- sion each club president reported on her Club's activities, social events and service projects, during the year. Mrs. -Cal Burke reported for the Wingham Club, The proceeds from the Trade Fair were most gratify- ing and the annual tea was also successful, The Kinettes collected for the 3/Larch of Dimes and pur- chased linoleum and chairs for the Scout House, The women were entertained with a fashion show of sports clothes and furs, put on by one of the leading stores in -Owen Sound, Your Telephone Company Presents On TV The Saugeen Life Underwriters Association held its monthly meet- ing at the Hanover Inn, Hanover, on Friday. Members were present from Arthur, -Chesley, Hanover, Lucknow, Mount Forest, :Walker- ton and Wingliam. The president, M. S. Patterson of Arthur was..in the chair, and ad- vised the 'members that the next meeting is to be a joint meeting with the Owen Sound Association, at which time the regional vice- president of, the national associa- tion ,11, -H, :parch, of Barrie, will _make his official visit -to the area. ,He also , invited the members and their wives -to his 'cottage for a la- dies' night in June. The offer was gratefully accepted. The 'secretary, R. O. Helwig of Walkerton, read correspondence - from the national office regarding literature on the subject of life in- surance; Arrangements were made to .have books on this subject pre- sented to libraries throughout the area serviced by the members of the, Saugeen association. A concentrated effort is again underway 'to bring into member- ship those' life insurance represen- tatives who .are presently enjoying the benefits brought about by the association but have done nothing to support it. Members were ask- ed to bring a potential member to the 'next meeting, at which time National Quality Awards will be presented to worthy members. C. W. Casliek, of Wingham, past president of the local association, was speaker for the occasion. He -presented a very interesting talk on a new method for corporation executives to obtain tax easements through the use of group annuity or pension trust plans. He also presented a recording made avail- able from the national office, on which Dr, Kenneth Maelyarland, educational consultant and lectur- er of General Motors, delivers the talk entitled "The Man in Sales- man". TWENTY-FIVE YEARS AGO Capt. W. J. Adams of the high school board is attending the On- tario Educational Association con- vention in Toronto this week. Mr. George C. Allen, M.A., son of Chief and Mrs. Allen, has accepted a position in the chemistry depart- ment of Canadian Industries Ltd. at their factory near Montreal. Mr. Normran -Sanderson imported two Middle White pigs last week, The Middle White is a proven -bacon pig and is highly recom- mended to cross with the York.
