ing with the Grand Howl.
Penny Gerrie led the 'boys In
games. while Byron Adams passed
the following, tests: Harold. Jardin,
model; Brian Carr and Brian
Maier, ' message; Brian •Oronk-
wright, "god Save the Queen and
,Canada;. Doug Elliott, first aid;
Brian. Miller,: compass. •
The meeting" closed with the
Grand Howl and Cub prayer.
On Tuesday, April 18; 24 Cubs
attended the• meeting.
'Jack Vivian .-led the boys in
gymnastics and Penny -Gerrie
passed tests. Bill Fuller passed
safety rules ..and somersaults; Barry
Conron, cleanliness; Newt Rich-
ardscon, Brian Forsythe and Mike
Forsyth all passed message; Brian
Miller,. reading.

Pack "B" Cubs
Barbara Pialtford, Nancy Fowl-
er and Mr. and Mrs. Arnold were
in charge of the 33 boys who
attended the Pack B meeting on
Thursday night,
RelayS were held outdoors. The
pack then went into the Scout
House for opening exercises and
collection of bones. Games were
played while some of the boys
tried tests, The following were
successful in passing their tests.

Second Star: Skipping, Terry

Inspection was then held and
Monty Templeman and Gary Bren-
zil were presented with their House

1st Wingham Troop
The Wolf Patrol was on duty
last Wednesday night when the
Scouts held their regular meeting.
The boys took advantage of the
nice weather and held relay races,
on the old track bed; The Buffalo
patrol came out as winners.
Troop Leader John Strong took
over the breaking of the flag in
the opening ceremonies. Jim Na-
smith and Dennis Callan were act-
ing patrol leaders for the evening.
Handball was played indoors.
Scoutmasters Alton Adams and
Harvey Fisher were in attendance.
A district sports tournament
'Was sponsored by the Ladies' Aux-
iliary to the Legion in Walkerton
last Wednesday and Thursday
when 37 comrades from the Wing-
ham Branch attended. There were
30 Wingham ladies participating in
bowling competitions.
The team comprised of Mrs. John
Strong, Mrs. Mac Pea:chev, Mrs.
Bob Irvine, Mrs. Jack Orvis, Mrs.
Allan Hafermehl and Mrs. Helen
Casemore won the first prize, for
which each received folding lawn
chairs, and the Luella Hall Trophy
for Zone C1.
Several individual prizes were al-
so won by the Wingham ladies.
Mrs. George Henderson won the
door prize and 'received a sweater;
Mrs. ,Glenn Sinnamon was present-
ed with a relish dish as a door
prize and Mrs. Stewart Forsyth,
who bowled the Walkerton branch
number, 102, 'received a vase with
tin ornamental rose. Mrs, Mac
Peaehey, runner-up for the high
triple of the day, won a compact.
Approximately 250 ladies attend-
ed. Comrade Richardson of To-
ronto, provincial president and
Comrade Pegg, chairlady, also of
Toronto, were present,
Competitive 'entertainment was
supplied by the various branches
and the :Wingham group put on a
variety concert. Mrs. Harold Ross
sang "Lili Marlane". Mrs. Mae
Peachey and Mrs. A. Hafermehl in
I appropriate costume, sang "Hey,
I Look Me Over" as a duet. Mrs.
Sell, Mrs. Orvis, Mrs. Hickey, Mrs,
Bob Casemore and Mrs. Ross did
a soft shoe dance,
The -Dancing Dolls", Mrs. Pea-
chey, Mrs. Helen Casemore and
Mrs. Bob Casemore, did the the
Hokey Pokey and Mrs. Irvine, Mrs.
Hafermehl and Mrs. Don Adams
put a good deal of effort into the

and Mrs. V. Ducharme tied the
whole program together as mist-

The Wingham. ladies won first
prize in the entertainment as well
as bowling and each received a
silver dollar. Their program prov-
ed so popular that they performed
three times on Wednesday and
were asked to return for another
presentation of their act on Thurs-
day evening.
Mrs. Strong, as captain of the
bowling team, was presented with
the trophy On the last night of the
tournament.

The league-leading Lees were up-
set by Burke Electric, who were
led by Walt Brown's 274 single and

The Rockets, despite Jim Bain's
219 single and 735 total were unable
to hold the lead they obtained in
the second game, •CRNX was
sparked by Ian MacLaurin's 721 =
triple.
The Hydro team proved to be a
little too hot for the Mustangs to
handle. Mac Peaehey led Hydrr;
with a 659. triple.

Social Evening
The Wingham Fire Department
held a social evening on Satur-
day When the menthers and their
wives enjoyed a pot Welt supper at
the fire hall,
Cards were played during the
evening with Mrs, Stewart Cowan
having the high score for the la-
dies and Ken Foxton for the men,
Mrs. Dave Crothers and Mike
lie won the consolation prizes and
Mrs, Mike Willie was the draw
winner.
Auxiliary Euchre
Mrs, Ken Saxton Jr. won the

Legion euchre party on Monday
evening.

Charlie and Delta troops. Follow-
ing his approval of ,the dress be
broke the parade off to its various
duties.
Several civilian drivers retreated
with shocked loqks after turning
into the lane by the armouries and
finding a 150 ni,m. howitzer pointed
at eye-level in their direction, The
gun' crew is practising the man-
oeuvres they will display at the
inspection on May 14th.
The natiOnal survival team under
Capt. Thompson's guidance has be-
gun to practise the lifts and car-
ries they will demonstrate at the
inspection.
In the stores there were bitter
complaints of missing equipment,
which seems to have been mis-
placed. Among the missing are 18
pips for officers, half a dozen
ground sheets and a hydranlic
jack, to mention a few. This seems
to be an annual struggle, to rega,in
the supplies which have been hor-
