There were tweivo girls present. The worship service was arranged by Betty Adams and Leone Chambers,. and opened with the call to worship by Leone, fol- lowed by the singing of the Qu9en. The Lord's prayer was repeated in unison and prayer was offered by Connie Clarke. The CGIT pur- Pose and answer were also repeat- ed in unison, The Scripture lesson was read by Kaye Wright. "What a Friend We Have in Jesus" was sung, with Louise Edgar as pianist. The attendance was not as large as had been hoped for, with only twenty-four ladies present, Mrs. G. L. Dobson, Mrs. T. Timm and Mrs. G, McMichael arranged the meeting; and the worship ser- vice was conducted by the former, and opened with music at the, piano by, Mrs, Doig, followed by the call to worship, and a poem entitled "We Thank You," read by Mrs. Dobson. The hymn "Work for the Night Is Coming," was sung and the Scripture lesson was read by Mrs. Timm, who also gave the commentary. Mrs. Dobson offered prayer, which was followed, by the Lord's prayer in unison. Mrs. Chas. McCutcheon and Mrs. Ron McMichael favored with a vocal duet, "How Great Thou Art," accompanied at the piano by Mis's Ann 'Douglas. A poem, "My Daily Wish," was read by Mrs. Dobson, and a skit called "The Associate Members' Secretary Makes a Call," was pre- sented by four of the WMS mem- bers, Mrs. I. MacLean, Mrs. A. Miller, Mrs. S. Higgins and Mrs, K. Edgar: Mrs. McCutcheon and. Mrs. 'Mc- Michael sang a second, duet "Man of Galilee,', which was much en- joyed. . Mrs. Dobson introduced the guest speaker, Rev. E. J, Clarke, who spoke on the forthcoming new or- ganization "The. United Church Women," explaining how such a change has 'come about, discussing the new group at the different levels-- the local, the Presbyterial, the Confe'rence, and the Dominion, outlining the purpose, aims and functions of each branch, as well as explaining . the unified budget. He was assisted by Mrs. Clarke, who asked questions most likely to come up in connection • with the forming of the new. group, The speaker dealt with the subject In a most interesting manner, whiph proved most Informative and in- instructive, and was much appreci- ated by members 'of all three 'A- cieties --- the WA, WMS and the Starlight. Mr. Clarke asked that a provisional committee be formed with a representation of two 'mem- bers from each group. being ap- pointed.
