83rd Birthday
CORRIE—August Keil celebrat-
ed his 83rd birthday on• Saturday
when a family dinner was held at
the home of his son, Harold Keil
and Mrs. Keil. Guests from a dis-
tance were his only sister, Mrs.
Peter Patrick and Mr. Patrick of
St. Thomas.
Mr. Keil is well known in the
township, having been agent for
the Howick Mutual Fire Insurance
Co. for many years, Many friends
will join in hearty congratulations
and best wishes. He enjoys fairly
good health.

GORRIE—Mrs. Gordon Edgar'
demonstrated the ;art of making
plastic foam flowers at the How-
ick Junior Institute, This meet-
ing was held .in the Gorrie' com-
munity hall on Tuesday evening,
with 17 members present.
Miss Elaine Miller was the con-
vener in charge of the demonstra-
tion, Mrs. •Ronald McMichael pre-
sided for the business, They later
joined .the Junior Farmers with
Barry Mulvey, Alex Strong, Gwen
Hyndman and Evelyn Anne Ste-
phens in charge of the program.

ON FARM LOANS
The tllowick Junior Farmers held
their April meeting on Wednesday
evening in the . Gorrie community
hall. Members fees were paid in
answer to the roll 'call.
Alex. Graham, manager, of the
Toronto-Dominion Bank, spoke on
"Farm Loans."
They, later joined the Junior In-
stitute for a joint meeting. Gwen
Hyndman gave a paper, with the
theme "Spring." Plans were discus-
sed for a dance to be held in. Gorrie
to raise funds.

Mn, and Mrs. W. Jack Aitchison
of Mooretown, Ontario, c'elebrated
their 50th wedding anniversary on
April 5th, when they were at home
to their friends.
Mr. Aitchison was formerly of
Wingham and was the eldest son
of Mr. and Mrs. William Aitchison.
He has four brothers, Tom of
,Kitchener, Lorne of Mitchell,
Henry, also of Mooretown and.
Harvey, Wingha.m, Mrs. Herb
Govier of .Auburn. and: Mrs. Joseph
Mutch of Ottawa are sisters,
Mr. ,Aitchison was a Moulder at
the Western 'Foundry Co., before
leagiyg Wingham about 1903.

sor, was best man at the wedding
and attended the anniversary

Holds Meeting
GORRIE—The Mission Band met
in the United Churcti, schoolroom
on Thursday with 17 present, op-
ening with the Band hymn and
pnrpose. Psalm 23 was given by
six girls and the poems "Spring"
and "We Love Thee Heavenly
Father", were read. Mrs.: G.
Brown told the story of the long
rope made by a Korean boy to ex-
change for a Bible.
Mrs. Allan Hyndman and Miss
Carol Robinson assisted in helping
each one to make a short braided
rope.
Elizabeth Massey and Susan
Carson' received the offering,
which was dedicated by Jack' Wat-
son;, president. The members are
selling Everyday Cards for mission
work.
Musical ohairs with Carol Robin-
son at the piano was the game
played. The meeting closed with
the hymn "Jesus Loves Me".

Church W.M.S. held its Easter
Thankoffering on Tuesday after-
noon. Mrs. Ernest Snowden and
Mrs. Morley Johnston welcomed
the ladies of Aubtirn, Calvin-Brick
and Westfield auxiliaries.
The call to worship was given
by the president, Mrs. Charles Jef-
ferson, who conducted the meeting,
Mrs: John Thompson Rresided at
the piano. "When I Suryey the
Wondrous Cross" was sung and
Mrs. William Hardy read the
Scripture.
Mrs. Tom Armstrong gave the
meditation. Mrs. Edward Robin-
son led in prayer followed by the
Lord's prayer in unison. Mrs, Bil-
liard Jefferson extended a wel-
come to -the visitors,
Readings were -given by Mrs. Ar-
nold Cook , of Westfield, "Tim's
Easter Lily", and by Mrs. Gordon
Mal3nrney of Calvin-Brick, "The
Dogwood".
The president introduced the
guest speaker, Mrs. Bert Alton of
Lucknow, who spoke Of missions
in the homes as well as abroad.
Mrs. James Leddy thanked the
speaker for her interesting mes-
sage.
A trio from Auburn, Mrs. Gor-
den MeCiirichey, Mrs. Duncan Mc-
Kay and Mrs. William J, Craig, ac-
companied on the piano hy Mrs.
Robert Phillips sang "Jesus Keep
Me near the Cross". After sing-
ing "Rejoice the Lord Is King"
Mrs, Sam Thompson and Mrs.
Wesley Jefferson received the of-
fering. The offertory hyilim was
sung and Mrs. Gordon Naylor gave
the dedicatory prayer. "Saviour
Thy hying Love" was sung and
Mrs, Charles Jefferson closed the
meeting with' prayer.

"Congratulations and best wishes
were the order of the day, Wednes-
day, for golden wedding anniver-
sary celebrants Mr. and Mrs. W.
Jack Aitchison, Highway 40, Moore-
town, when numerous. friends 'and
relatives attended an afternoon:and
evening reception at that couple's
home. -
"The Sarnia home of the bride's
parents, the late Mr. and. Mrs, N.J,
McMurray, was the scene of the
wedding fifty years ago when the
former Miss 'Edna McMurray and
W. Jack Aitchison exchanged their
marriage vows. The then newly-
weds made their home in Sarnia
and lived here until five years ago
when they moved, to their present
address.
"Formerly employed with Meuller
Brass Company as a pattern maker,
Mr. Aitchison retired three years
ago 'having served that company
for over 45 years. Both Mr. and
Mrs. Aitchison are members of
Courtright United Church where
Mr. Aitchison is a member of the

tapers, and silver aid crystal 'ap-
pointments, completed an im-
pressive setting.

a 1-day session and luncheon.

firms, who described the latest de-
velopments in both lithographic
and letterpress methods of re-
production, An 'interesting 'film
was shown on the manufacture and
use 'of a new type plastic plate
which has been developed by Du-
Pont corporation for the reproduc-
tion of photo copy.
Robert and Barry Wenger, nub,
fishers of The Wingham Advance-
Times attended the gathering,
where the latter reported on studies
now in progress by the Canadian
Weekly Newspaper Association in
the field on national advertising.
