For School Fair
WIIITECHURCH — Twenty-one
tables were in play at the East
Wawanosh NO. 9 school 'euchre
last Friday evening. Mr. and Mrs.
Gordon McBurney and Mr. and
Mrs. Lawrence Taylor sponsored
the evening party. Mrs. R, M, Shiell
and John Taylor held high points.
Grant Currie won the prize, for
having the highest score among the
school children. Alan Carter won
for being the youngest pupil play-
ing, and Kenneth Currie won the
novelty prize.
Mr. and Mrs, Cecil Coultes and
Mr. and Mrs. Reward, Walker are
sponsoring another euchre in two
weeks. Henry Pattison explained
the call for a helping hand with

Mr. Dunn, county engineer, end

the village on Thursday, laying
out the plans for the well-drillers
and the water system extending
from Mrs. Wm. Dawson's to Mrs.
D. Willis on the Highway, and
north to the A. E. Buckton home.
Home owners -are given to March
-30 to sign for the water in their
homes, and next week the list goes
to the Kinloss Township council.
The teacher, Mrs. George Ken-

WHITEOHTJRCH — The regular
monthly meeting of the WMS -of
the United Church was held on
Wednesday at the home of Mrs. E.
H. Groskorth with sixteen ladies
present, and Mrs. E. W, Beecroft
of the S. group, presiding. She also
gave the call to worship.
The theme was "Voices from
Abroad", Mrs. Russell Gaunt read
the Scripture message and Mrs.
John Pundon gave a reading on
stewardship, Mrs, Ezra Scholtz led
in the prayer for missionary work-
ers. Mrs. Clarence Ritchie and
Mrs. Groskorth led in reading re
Christians in other lands.
Mrs, Dan Tiffin played a plane
solo, "Song Without -Words." Mrs.
Soloman gave a reading, "Foreign-
er," and Mrs. J. G. Gillespie led in
prayer. Mrs. J. D. Beecroft was in
charge of the chapter from the
studybook, "New Nations With Old
Problems," from the book "Turn-
ing World."
Mrs, Milian Moore presided for
the business, period. Plans were
made for a' carload to attend the
Presbyterial in Wingham on April
6. The ladies decided to invite the
WMS of the Wingham United
Church and the ladiee of the Pres-
byterian WMS here for the Easter
Thankoffering meeting on April
19, when Mrs. (Rev.) W. R. Vhelsk
will be the special speaker. The
ladies have a sunflower quilt for
sale.
Mrs. Moore closed the meeting
with prayer. Mrs. Russell Purdon
presided for the WA meeting that
followed, and closed with the Miz-
pah benediction. Airs. Moore, Mrs.
Beecroft and Mrs. Groskorth then
served- the lunch for the birthday
quarterly tea.

ing to Owen Sound and later to .
