Morley T. Somers, 'Ontario Hydro
Area Manager, Alliston, died sud-
denly at his home in Alliston on
Monday, March 13. He was in his
60th year.
Mr. Somers joined the staff of
Ontario Hydro in 1928 and left in
1929 to work for Ingersoll Public
Utilities Commission. He re-joined
Ontario Hydro in 1937 and resided
in Barrie until 1914, when he trans-
ferred to Wingham as rural super,
intenclent, Mr. Somers returned
to Barrie in 1949, where he served
as line maintenance superintend-
ent, In 1954, be accepted an
appointment as manager of the
Alliston Area.
He was a charter member of
Kempenfeldt Masonic Lodge, and
Signet Chapter No, 34, an elder in
the Presbyterian Church in both
Wingham and Alliston and, until
quite recently, clerk of the Session
of Knox 'Church, Alliston,
The funeral 'service was conduct,
ed by Rev. C, Townsley from
Thomas funeral home in Alliston.

Hyland, A. G. Pickles, W. 0.
Stewart, J. F. Winchester and Dr.
T. p. Irwin and flower bearers
were C. N. Beekstead, D. H.,But-
ler and R, Connell, W, Cook, E.

Surviving are this widow, , former-
ly Laura Katharine Rowe, and two
daughters, Mary (Mrs. George
Proctor), Abitibi Canyon, and Linda
at home, and four grandchildren.
One sister, Mildred of Woodstock,
and tikro -brothers, Archie of Oro
Station, and Mansell, of New York
State.

Thursday. Mrs. Jim Sell cheerfully
filled In, in the absence of ilqrs. Bill

Mrs. Ron Foxton were tied for low.
Mrs. Seli took flash pictures while
the hostess prepared a delicious
lunch. The next party is to 'be held
at the home of Mrs. Ron 'Seddon

4-H DRAMA FESTIVAL
RHIN GIRL JUDGED
ZONE'S BEST ACTRESS
Carol Robinson ' was elected by
the judges ris best. actress when
4-H Clubs from Huron, Bruce,
Grey and Perth gathered at the
Listowel District High 'School for
their zone drama 'festival.
The Teeswater Junior 'Farmers
and Junior Institute emerged as
winners of the festival with their
presentation of "The Ugly Duck-
ling". As a result the group will
represent the four-county zone at
the provincial festival, slated for
Guelph on April 14th. Gerald Bap-
tist of the Teeswater group was
judged best actor.
The Howick group, in which
Miss Robinson starred, presented
"Bobby Sox Brigade",
Best supporting actor and actress
were Ron Rae and Audrey Coult-
hard, both of St. Pauls in Perth
'County. They were playing with
the Stratford Junior Farmers.
Those taking part in the Howick
presentation included Ethel Mc-
Michael, Joanne Strong,t Carol Rob-
inson, Phyllis Wilson, Gwen Hynd-
man, Murray Donaldson, Barry
Mulvey, Mrs. Audrey O'Krafka,
director and Ron McMichael, assist-
ant director.
The Teeswater cast included
Gerald Baptist, Alice Dickison,
Dorothy Donaldson, Art MaKague,
Aileen Husk, Francis Lamont, Don-
ald Green. Mrs. Sid Smith was the
director.
