Mrs, Ernest Casemore, of Wing-
ham., John Gaunt and Russell
Gaunt were in Owen Sound on
Tuesday last to attend the funeral
of the late Mrs. James McIntosh,
former Annie Rutledge,
Wilson Daw, son of Mr. and Mrs.
Fred Daw, is still a patient in
Wingham Hospital.
Mr, Archie Watt, of Toronto, was
a visitor with his parents, Rev.
and Mrs. W. J. Watt on Wednes-
day.
Mr. and Mrs. George Weber, of
Waterloo, visited on Sunday with
Mr. and Mrs. Carl Weber, and Mrs.
Harry Lindenschmidt, of Walker-
ton; visited at the Weber home. on
Saturday.
Miss Janet Gaunt and Mr.' Don
Dirstein, of Hanover, spent the
week-end with her parents, Mr.
and Mrs. Russell Gaunt,
Mr. and Mrs. Gerald Watson and
son, Alan, of Forest, spent the
week-end with her parents, Aar.

LADIES' GROUP TO
VISIT AUBURN
DONNYBROOK — The • March
meeting of the WMS and Ladies'
Aid was held Friday afternoon at
the home of Mrs. Gordon Naylor
with a fair attendance.'The call to
worship was given by Mrs. Stuart
Chamney, who had charge of the
WMS meeting. A hymn was sung
and Mrs. Charles Jefferson read
the Scripture lesson. Psalm 737 was
read in unison. Mrs. Sam Thomp-
son, Mrs. Wesley Jefferson and
Mrs. Hilliard Jefferson all gave
readings.' Mrs. James Leddy led in
prayer.
Mrs. Wesley Jefferson, who was
in charge of Christian stewardship,
read a letter from Mrs. McKinley,
of Zurich, regarding the allocation,
which is $130.00 this year. A hymn
was sung and Mrs. Tom Arm-
strong took charge of the chapter
in the study book, Mrs. Chamney
read the minutes of the February
meeting and Jean Naylor received
the offering.
It was decided to accept the in-
vitation to Auburn Thankoffering
meeting which is in the evening of
April 4th. Plans were also made to
have a Thankoffering meeting here
in the afternoon of April 11th and
invite other societies. After singing
"When I Survey the Wondrous
Cross," Mrs. Chamney closed the
meeting with prayer,
Mrs. James Lcddy had charge
of the Ladies' Aid ,meeting and
opened with ail singing "I Need
Thee Every Hoer." Mrs. William
'Hardy read the Bible lesson. Mrs.
Leddy gave a reading "I'm Fine,
Thank You. After singing another
hymn the leader closed the meeting
with prayer. Lunch was served by
the hostess, assisted by Mrs. Ern-
oaf Snowden, Mrs. Tom Armstrong
and Mrs. Sam Thompson,

ST. REUENS---Friends throw
out this district were saddened to
hear of the passing of William J.
Humphrey at the Wingham, 'Oen-
erai Hospital on Saturday evening,
Re had been In failtrig ,health for
the past few months, 'but PreVions
to that time had walked to the
village every day. Mr. Humphrey
was in his 92nd year. Mr. and
Mrs, Humphrey celebrated their
68th wedding anniversary on No-
vember 9th",
Mr, and Mrs, Humphrey were
married at Fordyce in 1692, His
wife who survives, was the former
Kezia Phillips. They spent their
entire lives in West Wawanosh
with the exception of five years,
during which they farmed at Yel-
lowstone, Sash,
Surviving, in addition to his wife
are two daughters, Miss Lila Hum-
phrey at home and Mrs, George
(Eva) Walker, East Wawanosh;
one son, William A. Humphrey, a
brother, Middleton Humphrey and
a sister, Mrs. ,George Cranston, all
of West Wawanosh. A sister, Mrs.
William Bowles, resided in St.
Catharines. There are 11 grand-
children and 25 'great-grandchil-
dren.
Funeral service was held on
Tuesday at the MacKenzie funeral
chapel in Lucknow.
BWEVALE •-The 17th of Ire-
land was observed in the com-
munity hall by e variety concert
sponsored . by the Ladies, MI, of
Knox Presbyterian Church.
Rev. T. E. Kennedy was chair-
man and Mrs. Nora Moffatt ac-
companist. Miss Carol Greig intro-
duced the program by PlaYing a
variety of plane numbers,
A ladies' chorus sang a group of
Irish songs in costumes suitable
to the occasion, with Mrs, William
Robertson singing ''The Same Old
Shillelagh,"
School girls gave an Trish dance
in costume -- Judy Bitten, Mary
Robertson, Elaine Snell, Mary La-
low, ' Ann MeKercher, Joanne El-
liott,
An amusing short play '"Baehr-
lee's Baby" was presented by
Morris group. Members of the cast
were Mrs. William Elston, Mr. and
Mrs, Bob MeMurray, Mary Har-
man and Bill Robertson,
Pupils of the .Stone School sang
"0 Susanna" and "Ring the Ban-
jo" with banjo accompaniment by
Harvey Mann. Harvey and 'Connie
Mann sang the duets "Barnacle
Bill" and "My Wild Irish Rose."
"Hats of Tomorrow" was a fash-
ion show, models exhibiting a large
number of exciting creations. Some
of the men had parts in this, Mrs.
Ross Grey, in a St. Patrick's cos-
tume, was the commentator.,,
Girls from Bluevale school sang
"Kitty of Coleraine" and "Cockles
and Mussels," and two o,f their
group, Judy Bitton and Mary Rob-
ertson gave the duct "Bendemeer's
Stream,"
The closing number was a min-
strel show, the group singing tune-
ful Stephen Foster songs and negro
spieituals, with the customary
questions and funny replies.
The concert was well attended
and was much appreciated by the
audience,
