the candlelight wedding ceremony
in Riverside United Church, Lon-
don, on Sunday when Carol Edge-
beth Needham, London, became the
bride of C. Ross Hamilton, Wing-
ham. The bride's uncle, Rev. E. C.
Pentland, of Decatur, Ill., perform-
ed the wedding ceremony, assisted
by Rev. D. L. .Hodder of Dundas

The sixth meeting of the Cotton
Cut-Ups was held at the home of
Mrs. Alex Corrigan on Wednesday.
After the 4-H pledge, Audrey
Kirton read the minutes, The roll
call was "A special feature in My
record book."
All the requirements for the re-
cord'ibooks were discussed. 1t was
decided to include samples of dif-
ferent kinds of cottons in the
books. Plans for Achievement Day
were made. The girls worked on
their dresses.
The meeting closed with. "The
Queen." The next meeting will be
at Nancy Taylor's on March 8.

the study on Africa 'in regard to
literacy and education - 89% of
Africans in most countries are il-
literate, but great efforts are be-
ing made to overcome.this handi-
cap. Missionaries encourage edu-
cation and, through the founding
of churches and schools, give in-
struction Co all they can reach.
Training centres arc helping Af-
ricans to become leaders of their
own race:. African writer,s, though
still few in number, arc making a
future for thetnselves. The radio
helps unity in Africa and books
are being published and supplied
to those who arc eager for learn-
ing.

BLUEVALE — On Wednesday
afternoon the WMS of Knox Pres-
byterian Church met at the borne
of Mrs. Leslie Greenaway. The
president, Mrs. Bernard Thomas,
opened the meeting with a hymn,
and prayer by Mrs, Reg: Bitton,
Mrs. Eldred Nichol read the
Scripture with Comments on Eliza-
beth, a woman of the Bible.
It was decided to accept the in-
vitation of Whiteohureh •WlvIS to
their Thankoffering meeting on
March 15th, Plans were discussed
for a Thankoffering meeting in
Bluevale church at a later date.
The offering was dedicated by
Mrs. Harry Elliott. Mrs. Gordon
Greig gave the topic, "How we go
into all the world together," She
described many changes taking
place in this new world and the
necessity of meeting a changing
atmosphere.
There was a closing hymn and
prayer 'by the president, There
were 14 membets to 'attendance.
The quarterly meeting of the
Ladies' Aid was held 'following the
WMS Meeting, with Mrs. Harry
Elliott presiding. She read a Verse
"Observation,"
