LIVING ROOM FURNITURE
You open the door to. a new standard of
modern living when you buy or build a
Medallion Home. The Medallion symbol
assures you greater convenience, comfort and
beauty. It means a home of better value, now
and in the future.
In a Medallion Home you'll find:
1. The right work-saving electric appliances.
Some large appliances are installed and there
are outlets and wiring to facilitate the addi-
tion of other appliances you may add in the
fliture. In a Gold Medallion Home you will
have clean, efficient electric heating with in-
dividual room-by-room temperature control.
2. Full "housepower" with plenty of capa-
city for today's needs—and extra circuits for
the future.
3. Planned lighting indoors and out for added
convenience, safety and beauty.

This week-end will see the open-
ing of Winghams' newest and most
modern home, that of Mr. and Mrs,
G. W. Cruickshank, located on Vic-
toria Street, just east of Carling
Terrace and near the entrance to
the high school grounds.
The home is unique, not only be-
cause the latest in building meth-
ods have been employed, but be-
cause it is the first all-electric
home in town - termed by Ontario
Hydro as a "Gold Medallion Home.",
The home is built on three levels,
chiefly finished in tawny brick
veneer, with California redwood,
stained to a natural finish, to offer
contrast on the exterior of the bed-
room overhang.
A heated garage, at the west
end of the building, is located at
ground level, as are the combined
mudroom and laundry, inside-out-
side storage at the rear of the
garage, a two-niece washroom and
a comfortable family room, faced
in pre-finished Japanese mahogany.
On the second level are the
kitchen and combined breakfast
nook, living room, dining room and
foyer.
The top level contains three bed-
rooms and full bathroom. Base-
ment extends, under the living area.
only.
Heavy Insulation
To conserve consumption of elm-,
tricity in the heating units the
house carries extra-heavy insula-
tion, six. inches of fibreglass being
used - in the ceilings, with four
inches of the same materials in the
walls. A polyetheline vapour bar-
tier has been used throughout,
The exterior of the home provides
a fine setting for the modern
architecture, with planters of
angelstone (the same material used
for the living room fireplace),
shrubs and flowers laid out most
effectively. Wrought iron railings
set off the front entrance and at
the rear pre-colored slabs form a
bright and inviting patio.
The interior finish is plaster
painted in a variety of soft pastel
shades for the main rooms, Mois-
ture and scrub resistant linen-
backed paper has been employed in
the bathrooms and one bedroom,
while standard wallpapers finish
the foyer and upper hall.
Floors are covered with wall-to-
wall carpeting in living and dining
rooms and the master bedroom,
With tile on the remainder of the
floors.
The kitchen has built-in, custom
made cupboards and features a
built-in Tappan electric range,
counter-top style.
Seaforth Fulvue windows which
combine the regular panes, screens
and storms in a one-unit frame are
used throughout. Full-height sliding
glass door, storm and screen com-
binations give access from dining-
room to patio. The picture window
fronting the living room is of the
double-glass self-insulating type.
Those who would like to see the
new home are invited to call. Open
house has been arranged for Fri-
day, August 26, evening, 7 to 10
o'clock; Saturday, 2 to 5 and 7 to
10; Sunday, 2 to 5 and 7 to 10, and
Monday, 7 to 10 p.m.
