the latter's home in Listowel.

in the Palmerston General Hos-

a trip to the West, where they at-
tended the Calgary Stampede. They
also visited Banff, Lake Louise,
and with Mr, and Mrs. George
Dane and family of Grande

days with Mr. and Mrs. Howard
Wylie at Araberley.

ther Hastie in Toronto and return-

Blyth announcing the program for
he centennial anniversary at Blyth
United, Church.
In 1860 Rev. Alex Currie settled
in Blyth as the first regular minis-
ter of the Canaria. Presbyterian.
Church. In the same year the afeth-
odist congregation began meeting
and was formally organized by
1861. For several years they met in
homes for worship and study to-
gether but as soon as possible
erected a church. building. The first
Methodist Church was built on the
property now occupied by Irvine
Wallace and the first Presbyterian
Church was erected on the lot
which is now the horticultural
park.
In 2925 when the United Church
of Canada was formed, uniting the
Congregational, Methodist and
Presbyterian congregatione in Cas
aada, both of the congregations in
Blyth -went into the union, and for
a period of nine years there were
two United Church congregations
in Blyth. In 1934 the present con-
gregation of the United Church was
formed, uniting the historic tra-
ditions of the past.
Services will be held on Sunday,
July 31, with Rev. W. J. Maines, a
native of Blyth, as guest preacher.
On Sunday. afternoon a fellowship
hour will be held at the church
when there will ise.a display of pic-
tures and articles of historic value.
On Saturday, July 30, a centennial
parade will give a glimpse into the
past to residents of today. An an-
niversary supper and band concert
are features of the Saturday even
ins program.
Official opening is at 5.30 pan.
Saturday. Mrs. T. Fate will cut the
anniversary cake at this time. She
has the record of being the one
who has .been a member of the con-
gregation for the longest time.
During the supper hour on Satijr-
day formerorganists and musicians
will be at' the organ and the piano
for a musical interlude. Supper is
being served in the church school-
room. Pictures and historic re-
cords will. be on display in the
church schoolroom on Sunday. •
At the morning service a box
containing the roll of the Presby-
terian Sabbath School as it was in
1910 will he opened, The document

hall on Wednesday evening.
The team captains were picked
and staff supervisors contacted for
both days, August 2nd' and' Aug-
ust 4th. The hours are 2 to 5 in
the afternoon and 7 to 10 in the
evening.

Christian heritage that has come
from those of other generations.

choir, and the male quartet will
present special ramie.
