Wingham scored singles in the first and third innings to take a 2-0 lead, Belgrave put on power and came back in the fourth frame for four runs to take a 4-2 lead. The scoring stood as such until the bottom of the seventh when Wingham had the bases loaded and Ken Gregg slammed a double into deep centre for two runs. At the end of the ninth stanza the score remained deadlocked in a 4-4 tie, forcing the teams into extra innings. The break came for the Sunocos in the eleventh inning when Jim Coultes, pitching for Belgrave turned in a fine per- formance for the Belgrave teat* but allowed Jim Bain to slam one dnto left field with. the bases load- ed, to bring in B.
