Rev. T. G. Gilchrist
Raised in Angola
Rev. T. 0, Gilchrist of Grand
Valley was the speaker at both
Wroxeter and Gorrie United
Churches on Sunday ;morning for
W.M.S. Thankoffering services. He
spoke on Africa.
Rev. Gilchrist is the son of Dr.
Sidney Gilchrist, a medical mission-
ary in Africa. Rev. Gilchrist went
there himself, with his: parents at
the age of four and lived in Africa
until he was twelve years old,
He traced the history of the
church from the founding of the
first mission by the Portugese up
to the present time, and of the
wonderful progress being made. A
new hospital is being built to hold
100 beds and will soon be com-
pleted, but donations are needed to
supply the beds, as they have none
at present.
Rev. Gilchrist gave some of his
impressions received while living
in !Angola. His father is still in
the mission field there, He ex-
pressed the thought that native
Africans do not want to have the
gospel preached to them, but rather
want a living• example of it por-
trayed by the lives of the white
people in authority there.
At the , service in Wroxeter
special music was supplied by Miss
Sharon Ellioft of Wroxeter, who
sang a most appropriate vocal solo.,
