T. 0, Gilchrist of Grand Valley was the speaker at both Wroxeter and Gorrie United Churches on Sunday ;morning for W.M.S. Thankoffering services. He spoke on Africa. Rev. Gilchrist is the son of Dr. Sidney Gilchrist, a medical mission- ary in Africa. Rev. Gilchrist went there himself, with his: parents at the age of four and lived in Africa until he was twelve years old, He traced the history of the church from the founding of the first mission by the Portugese up to the present time, and of the wonderful progress being made. A new hospital is being built to hold 100 beds and will soon be com- pleted, but donations are needed to supply the beds, as they have none at present. Rev. Gilchrist gave some of his impressions received while living in !Angola. His father is still in the mission field there, He ex- pressed the thought that native Africans do not want to have the gospel preached to them, but rather want a living• example of it por- trayed by the lives of the white people in authority there.
