Mx miles southeast of Goderlch in Benmiller Jim Wallace has his
blacksmith shop called Sharp's Creek Forge. Formerly a
psychiatric social worker, Jim has chosen to blacksmith. He is
one of the few blacksmiths practicing today. --Photo by Laura

not by machine, makes it an old technique too.
Many companies today make steel products without using
heat, for example Wrought Iron Railing Companies. They can
twist the metal while it is cold --called the cold twist. Even the
scroll can be done cold. But they cannot do as much detail work.
Jim adds rivets to handles, which is a sign that it is hand -made
with a forge using heat.
