With shorter working hours people are having more and more
time available to spend in their homes. They're also having more
money to spend on their homes.
This month we take a look at two areas of home decorating.
The kitchen is a new source of pride to many homeowners. After
years of neglect the spotlight has been turned on this more
functional of all rooms in the house. We talked to a local expert
on the subject, architect Bill McKee, and consulted other sources
to come up with an article full of helpful advice on those planning
to build or remodel a kitchen.
Things old are still new in decorating. The trend to decorating
with antiques is not slowing down. Cy Cline owner of St. Marys
Stonetown Antiques and an expert in antiques gives some tips
on how to go about decorating with antiques and making a sound
investment at the same time.
They may be antiques or they may be new but Teddy Bears
have always held a fascination for people young and old. This
summer saw a real Teddy Bears' Picnic near Stratford. We have
a story on that event.
Elizabeth Willmot "ho has done so much to keep the history
and folklore of the rail, ""s of Ontario alive has a new book out
called Faces and Places Along the Railway. We have a review in
this issue.
The hit of the Prairies, Paper Wheat will be touring Western
Ontario as part of a national tour later this month. We have a
preview of what the show is about and some of the fascinating
history of its development.
Elaine Townshend has done some travelling recently. She tells
us of the joys of travelling in Canada's Maritime provinces.
And of course there is Around Town, a dining review,
McGillicuddy's Diary and all the other regular features of the
magazine.
