There's something about the summer that invites us to get
outside even for things we usually do inside.
With summer winding down there is no time to waste being
indoors. It's time to pack a picnic lunch, explore the country and
spend even those eating hours outside.
This month we've taken a look at five popular picnic spots.
There are many others, of course. You may have your own
favourite. We'd welcome your suggestions to keep on file for a
similar listing next summer. Meantime, have fun and don't let
the ants get your lunch.
For many years people travelling along Highway 8 through
Seaforth have admired the work of the Seaforth Lions Club.
Lions Park has become one of the most popular spots in town.
It's a favourite spot for family picnics on Sunday afternoons as
families get together from all over for annual reunions.
The park stretches back from the south side of the highway in
the east end of the town. Large willow trees shade the pond that
has been formed by daming up the small creek.
The Lions club's swimming pool and wading pool are located
near the front of the park. There's a picnic pavilion handy too if
you don't go on one of the days when its booked for a family
reunion. There is plenty of room for games and shade for picnic
tables.
