Canada grade 10, and each graduate receives Miloslawa's own diploma...Over the years, Miloslawa has had many hard-working senior students who assisted her with the younger ones. Miloslawa and her students are now preparing for their annual recital, which will be performed in the Clinton Public School in June. Proceeds will help to purchase musical instruments for the school. Miloslawa chooses the music, decides which student will perform each selection, does the choreography, which she especially enjoys, and even makes costumes. This year she is including a Polish dance in the recital. When she isn't grading her students, she is listening to music and planning. She seems to thrive on the hard work and on the response of her students, past and present. Some of her former students have joined the National Ballet of Canada. Another is preparing now for an audition. "She is a hard worker," claims the teacher, "and I am already proud of her." A few former students are dancing with other ballet companies, such as the Winnipeg Ballet; others have become ballet teachers, and many are physical education teachers. "Ballet is an excellent base for gymnastics, skating and any kind of dancing," stresses Miloslawa. "I'm not a business woman," she adds, "I teach ballet, not for the money, but because I love it, and being surrounded by young people makes you feel young." She describes each student affectionate- ly as "my favourite," "the best," "a hard worker", "a lovely\girl and very talented", or "I think she will go far." Her students return the affection in letters and newspaper clippings that fill several scrapbooks. Even students, who are no longer involved with ballet, keep in touch. They write things, such as "I'll never forget you" and "I wish you were still teaching me." To Miloslawa, this has been the "fantastic" part of teaching, and it is another sign of the lifelong love she has felt for people, ballet and the beautiful things of life. 20 Village Squire, May 1979 bO11I[KS MAY 13th WE HAVE MANY IDEAS FOR YOUR MOTHER (OR HIS MOTHER].
