earrings in silver. gold and pastel colours.
Shirt jackets. that will be co-ordinated with skirts and pants,
will be made softer and looser. Raglan and straight -cut sleeves
will take the place of the previously popular drop shoulders in
jackets and blouses.
"Colours will have depth," continues Valerie Marshall.
Pastels will be accented by brighter colours. For example.
natural and off-white will be co-ordinated with soft greens and
blues.
Barbara Hammond. owner of Gourlay's Women's Fashions in
Stratford. suggests natural fibres, such as cotton and silk will be
used for blouses. and the "big blouse" will be in style again.
T-shirts are always popular, but this year they will have more
style with tucking at the sleeves and with cut sleeves, almost to
bat-wing sleeves. They will be fuller through the body. giving a
subtle blouson look. Although the traditional T-shirt will still be
evident, some will be almost fashionable enough to wear for
dress tops.
"Beach wear this year is extremely pretty." says Barbara
Hammond.
One-piece swim suits will be more prevalent this summer than
two-piece sets. The legs will be cut out high. and some styles will
have ties at the sides to allow adjustment of the legs.

-- that swim suits are stylish. She explains. "Stylish one-piece suits
will have a variety of features -no straps, one strap, low back or
s super high back."
3 In swim wear as well as in shorts. the gym look is "in".
U perhaps due to the current emphasis on participaction.
s "Blazers will be reminiscent of the boxy style of the 1940's."
F" continues Rosemary Davison.
Pants in beige and gold tones will consist of cotton, gabardine
' and other natural fibres and will be "fashion pants not
to traditional plain pants." They will have tucks, french pleats.
