getting involved in rigid structure of realism.
"I can do more realistic things tvith pastels but if I intend to
sell them I might as '.ell forget them because people consider
pastels a medium that is used for quick sketches at craft shows
:nal fairs. For portraits and they think it's not a very permanent
mediums chalk on paper. v. ell that'll fall apart but that's not true.
It's one of the most lasting mediums. There are lots of oil
paintings that have been sitting around for 15 or 20 years and
Ihe%'re full otcracks if they ,.cren't made v.ith the best materials
and ‘.;isn't painted in the right ,.ay...
Maurice says he thinks acrylics will be a more permanent
mediums but they're still relatively neva and haven't been proven
by the test of time. Oil paints have been around for hundreds of
\ cars.
The feeling of doing art for posterity isn't one that he has
thousght of Maurice says although he thinks that subconsciously
he mess kelp it in mind because he uses only high quality paints
and materials and he makes sure that the material he is going to
paint on h.n Ihr proper preparation to protect it from the ravages
of time.
Getting the hest materials hoo.e'er is grains to. be a big
