Village Squire, 1978-11, Page 24George Severn gage up engineering to Mork Mith his v.ife in The
Feather Tick and he enjoys e'erN minute of it.
The rough textured look seems to be the most popular trend
these days among their customers. they say. From the rough
textures of hand woven placemats. potholders and even
lampshades to pottery without a high glaze. people seem to like
the unfinished look. Items in brass and copper are also still
popular.
The shop now draws its clientele from a wide area from
London to Kincardine and Teesv. ater in the north and from
Stratford and St. Mans area in the east to Goderich and Grand
Bend in the v. est. Although one might think the customers would
be mostly women. men are becoming frequent visitors looking
for nice touches to add when they're fixing up their houses.
Still, though the shop is rated a success by its ov.ners and
though there has been a recent large expansion. the couple says
they have no _yearning to make their shop too large. They enjoy
working with each other without having to worry about a large
staff. For the Severns. the decision to go on their ov. n instead of
moving back to the city has been a big one.
