UP FRONT
It's coming to that time when everybody likes to get out of the
house and explore the countryside. There isn't much more
interesting countryside to explore than Western Ontario. We've
got nearly everything here to see and do in the summertime.
In this issue we explore some of the possibilities for outings
with the family. We give you a choice of five ideas for outings,
actually more than that for we lump the area's museums into one
category though each could actually be an outing in itself.
We take a trip this month to St. Jacobs to explore Mennonite
country and the interesting little shops that have sprung up in
that town. While there, we'll stop for dinner at the Stone Crock,
one of the most popular restaurants in that area.
Closer to home. you might want to take an interesting drive to
Benmiller, a pretty spot any time of the year, and drop in at The
Hollow the little shop beside the, Benmiller Inn. run by Carol
Jones. Frances Barrick did just that.
In the features at the back of the book, Peter Moss is a
Canadian who found success in English theatre before coming
home to Canada to accept the top job at the Stratford Festival's
Third Stage. Peter discusses his views and the comparison of
Canadian and English theatre in the theatre column.
In Sports, there probably hasn't been a bigger success story in
this part of the country in the last few years than that of the Baier
sisters. Sherri and Lorri and their various partners in figure
skating. Sherri teamed with Robin Cowan and Lorri teamed with
Lloyd Eisler have each brought honours to their family and their
community. Their story is explored in the Sport column.
