UP FRONT
One of the areas we've been trying hardest to improve in
recent months has been the Around Town section of i'he
magazine.
It is our hope that Around Town will offer as full information as
possible on the whole spectrum of entertainment offerings it the
region. For this reason we are working to include more
information in nearby cities not presently within our coverage
area but within easy driving distance of most of your homes,
especially Kitchener -Waterloo and London. While we think this
section of the magazine is showing progress we are still looking'
for improvements. We depend to a certain extent on co-operatton
by the various entertainment outlets to get our information.
Some are much more co-operative than others. In addition there
are places that may be of interest to our readers that we are not
aware of and community -sponsored events which have come and
gone before we learn of them. Because of this we've enclosed a
special form on the Around Town page this month which we
invite you to fill in and mail to us if you know of an event that
should be included in the next issue of Village Squire.
In addition we would appreciate hearing from readers as to
any additional areas they would like to be kept tntormed on
through the Around Town section. Only by knowing what yotr
want can we serve your needs.
THIS MONTH
We welcome a new writer to our pages this month in the
person of Lian Lawrence of the St. Marys area who tells a story
that could fit into any western Ontario community this winter.
It's about the trials of a commuter in the snowbelt, especially one
memorable trip.
Another more familiar writer appears again this month in
honour of ground hog day when Douglas Kelso tells the
children's story of Percy Fights Back.
Speaking of St. Marys, we visited one of the most impressive
antique stores in Western Ontario this month, Stonetown
Antiques, owned by Cy Cline of St. Marys.
Over Stratford way a stylish addition to the Stratford ct3re area
is getting close to ending its first year of operation. We spoke
this month to Leigh Dennison and Colleen Stephenson who own
Stephenson's, a shop on Ontario Street specializing in
contemporary housewares.
The business column this month looks at a success story in the
field of farm machinery manufacturing. Our dining column looks
at the Chinese fare offered by Wing's Restaurant at Mitchetl.
In all it's entertainment to help you beat the winter blahs.
