Phillips continues his vision
of Stratford's future
Rumours persist that Robin Phillips will
be leaving the Stratford Festival soon but
he still continues to pursue his vision of a
year-round, multi -media drama centre in
Stratford.
That dream took a step closer to reality
last month with the unveiling of plans for a
new addition to the Festival complex.
The addition, called Stage One, will be
attached to the Avon Theatre at Brunswick
and Waterloo Streets and will be at the
back of the present theatre building.
When word of the news conference to be
held on July 26 was first announced
speculation was that it was the announce-
ment of the television and film studio that
Phillips has spoken of for two years since
he first expressed his vision in a speech in
