between busy times you have some time ott," Mr. Thompson
said.
The biggest selling time for him is Christmas and Easter
and he says the real backbone of his business is the local
people.
"The tourist business is nice for 20 weeks in the summer. It
adds the icing to the cake. I guess you might say," Mr.
Thompson said.
Rheo Thompson candy is also sold in Preston, Niagara Falls
Doon Village, Gravenhurst and Benmiller. Three-quarters of
the candy made goes out the front door of Rheo Thompson's.
The other quarter is sold in other locations.
Rheo Thompson himself takes part in the buying of raw
materials, manufacturing the candy and in the selling of it.
There are three people including himself who make the
candy plus two part-time girls who sell it and package it.
One hundred and one varieties to choose from. The building
may not be pretentious but the choices certainly are. ■
