June begins the busiest time of the year in Western
Ontario. Suddenly the grass needs mowing and the garden
weeding and there are so many things to see and do in the
area you need to be two people to be everywhere you want to
be. The summer of 1977 promises to be even busier than
summers past. Several communities are celebrating
anniversaries and planning big doings for them. Goderich will
begin on the July 1 weekend and we've got a story telling
about some of the goings on in this issue so you can plan
ahead.
There's another anniversary this year too: the 25th
anniversary of the founding of the Stratford Festival. Our
theatre column this month recalls in photos some of the sights
of that first season and compares them to some of this year's
productions.
The Festival has had sweet success and there's been
another sweet success in Stratford: the Rheo Thompson
Candy store. Debbie Ranney tells us about the store. •
We've got features on one of the area's favourite dining
spots, The Red Pump in Bayfield and on one of the newer
little shops in the region, the Curiosity Shoppe in Milverton.
Our daytrip this month takes us from Clinton to Bayfield by
the long scenic way around. And our dining out column also
has a scenic view with a picnic in the park at Stratford.
