UP FRONT
Blizzards mean different things to different people. If
you're lucky, it means you can settle back in a warm house
with lots of food and wait for the storm to blow over. If you're
in the business of publishing a regional magazine like Village
Squire, it means plenty of trouble.
The big blizzard of 1977 completely messed up all plans for
the Feb. 1977 issue of Village Squire. It meant that for nearly
weeks it was impossible to get on the road to travel from one
part of our coverage area to another. It meant some stories
had to be postponed and other put in their place. It meant
advertising calls were difficult to make.
The normal publication date was delayed in order to let us
make up some of the lost time, but in the long run it was
either push ahead without some of our normal features or
have two March issues and no Feb. one. We chose the former
course even though it means having to go without some of the
material we would normally have had in the issue.
Hopefully the rest of Feb. will not be so stormy and we can
make up with an extra good March issue.
