UP FRONT
Well, our long -promised new look is finally here.
Many of the changes come thanks to suggestions made by
readers in the recent readership survey. Other changes will
still be coming in order to make Village Squire more of a
service to the people of the region.
We've expanded our areas of coverage with longer monthly
columns on various subjects such as business, sport, and
various aspects of the entertainment business. We've
attempted to give greater variety without taking away some of
the features most liked in the past. We hope for more changes
yet, like the return in the spring of our Sunday drive type
columns which were featured when the magazine first began
three years ago but fell by the wayside because of lack of
material (if you have any suggestions for interesting drives of
one half hour to two hours, we'd be glad to receive them).
We still hope to improve the Around Town section of
entertainment happenings but the going is tough because of
the lack of co-operation on the part of entertainment
operators. We're hoping to start a bazaars and bake sale part
of the Around Town too so if you have an upcoming bazaar of
bake sale, send us the information for the listing. All listings
are free of charge but we reserve the right to choose listing
and word the copy.
Because of the enlarged format of the magazine, and
because of the ever increasing cost of printing and labour,
we've had to raise the subscription price to $3.50 per year,
still, we think one of the cheapest rates around (less than 30
cents per month on home subscription). As usual we have
special Christmas. gift rates for those who want to give to
friends, and we hope you will consider giving to your friends
since we still need to increase circulation. It's a never ending
battle.
We would also like to begin a letters to the editor page with
your comments and complaints about the magazine and
articles in the magazine or any topic that takes your fancy.
Unfortunately, we need enough letters to keep the page
going, not one this month and three next. We'd appreciate
hearing from you.
Well, thanks again for the help in reshaping the magazine
through your survey answers. We hope you will like the final
product.
